A veteran of the beauty industry, Moe spent years working on each scent with the world’s finest perfume ingredient suppliers, and each perfume is paired with a poem that is meant to be spoken before wearing to unleash its inspired intention into the universe. In addition to fragrance, Zodica Perfumery also makes other products such as bath bombs and lotion, and they all feature organic ingredients, are vegan, and cruelty-free.

We chatted with Moe who shared her favorite beauty and wellness tips, secrets for success, best advice, and much more.

When was Zodica Perfumery founded and what does the name mean?

January 2016—she’s a Capricorn! I wanted a name that conveyed what the product is, but also had the ability to be trademarked. I simply took zodiac and switched around the “a” and “c” to create a unique name. 

What inspired the creation of the brand?

As a lifelong migraine sufferer who gets triggered by scent, perfume shopping is a painful experience. I wanted to take the guesswork out of finding a signature scent while also making perfume that is easily enjoyed no matter your sensitivities. When I was researching how to personalize scent, I stumbled across a scientific study that showed findings that personality can be influenced depending on one’s birth season. Interestingly, those findings mirrored some of the personalities in the zodiac. This made me curious to see if there might be a correlation with scent preference since scent and personality are so closely linked due to how scent impacts emotion. 

How are your perfumes curated according to horoscope sign?

I used findings from blind scent studies I conducted to create perfumes for each zodiac sign. I found that people from each zodiac sign do share similar scent preferences. When formulating the scents, I also incorporated seasonal ingredients and zodiac archetype signatures. The final perfumes have been blind studied twice with an 80% preference rate that women will like their own zodiac sign. 

Does Zodica Perfumery have a hero product?

Zodica is best known for our Twist & Spritz travel perfume. It’s intentionally designed to be refillable and makes a perfect gift. Typically, our best-selling scent is the current birthday season since people love to gift Zodica because it’s so personal. 

What are your favorite products from your brand?

Besides the perfume, I love our hair perfume serum. It’s the hardest-working product in the collection because it can do so many things! It not only scents your hair all day, it’s a treatment oil so it will also protect your hair from heating tool damage, add shine, defrizz, protect from sun damage, extend the life of your color, and is great as a dry body oil. 

Where are your products sold?

Zodica is sold in almost 600 speciality retail stores including apparel boutiques, gift shops, spas, and salons. You can also purchase on our website.

Future plans for the brand?

Metaphysical beauty is an exciting new category and we will continue to expand our selection as people are looking for more products for their self-care routines.

Who inspires you?

Suzy Batiz, the creator of Poo~Pourri, continues to inspire me. She is a powerful example of a self-made woman in business. Her success has made her one of the richest women in America, but her greatest wealth is her wisdom.

Secret to success?

My secret to success is looking within and following the light that directs me.

Beauty secrets?

Perfume! Numerous studies have proven scent can increase the perceived attractiveness of a person. If you know their zodiac sign, wear their scent!

Wellness tips?

Start your day with a scent ritual. Decide how you want to feel that day and select a scent with aromatherapy that will evoke that vibe. Deeply inhale while setting your daily intention. Your brain will do the rest! 

Best advice?

Just breathe.

Laughing with my partner. Being silly makes life sweet.
