Beauty Boss: Corinne Morley, Trilogy Head of Global Education & Global Brand Ambassador

Corinne Morley.

This week’s Beauty Boss is Corinne Morley, Head of Global Education and Global Brand Ambassador for Trilogy—a line of natural skin care products featuring more than 40 incredibly effective natural alternatives to synthetic skin care, body care, and hair care that are sold in over 20 countries around the world.

After moving to New Zealand with her family and meeting Sarah Gibbs and Catherine de Groot, the sisters who founded Trilogy, Morley soon became an expert in the burgeoning field of pure plant oils, building on the brand’s signature Certified Organic Rosehip Oil, and has been instrumental in helping Trilogy bring exciting and highly effective new products to market.

“From an early age growing up on the Isle of Man in the United Kingdom, I was interested in beauty,” says Morley. “My mother opened the first health day spa on the island well before ‘health’ was a trend, and from the age of 14, I was a willing and enthusiastic helper. Over the years, I became more interested in exploring the potential of natural and organic ingredients. Having children gave me an entirely new view of the world we live in and how we care for ourselves. One of my great joys is being a part of the growing global natural beauty industry and helping people overcome their skin concerns with safe, sustainable, effective products that deliver on their promises.”

We recently chatted with Morley, who shared her personal journey to success, best advice, beauty tips, and more:

What was your journey to where you are now?

My formal training started at The Park School of Beauty Therapy, where I gained international aesthetician and beauty therapist diplomas, including world-renowned Comité International d'Esthétique et de Cosmétologie (CIDESCO).  I worked as a beauty therapist in salons and spas, working with brands like Clarins, Guinot, and Dermalogica. I opened my own beauty salon in 1990, specializing in problematic skin conditions and working with a variety of advanced techniques. Having suffered with skin problems as a teenager and knowing the devastating effect they can have on one’s self-confidence, skin care has been my passion for over 30 years.

I have a comprehensive industry background encompassing beauty therapy, marketing, sales, training, research and product development. I have also held management roles at Estee Lauder, as well as high-performance European professional skin care brands Matis, G.M. Collin, and Biologique.

I joined Trilogy at a time when the brand was beginning its expansion into international markets. It was an exciting time, working closely with the enterprising and intuitive founders. They were driven, as the company still is, by the discovery of powerful new natural ingredients to create beautiful products, which challenge synthetic formulations. New Zealand is the land of pure, clean, green beauty and the perfect birthplace for natural, ethical skin care.

In your present role with Trilogy, what are your main responsibilities?

I have a dynamic role representing Trilogy internationally as the Global Brand Ambassador and Global Education Manager. My main responsibilities include researching beauty and sustainability trends, new ingredients and products, while helping to create and deliver effective education programs aligned to the needs of the different markets that we are sold in.

Presenting is a core part of my role, and I am often presenting Trilogy at retail and industry seminars, as well as introducing new products to media and influencers at media launches around the world. Connecting with diverse audiences to share key messages about our brand is fundamental to helping Trilogy build and grow strong awareness.

What’s a typical day like for you?

Given my location in the world and the diversity of my role, no day is ever the same! However, no matter where in the world I am, my day will always kick off with one routine-like task: I reach for my phone, scan emails that have come through overnight, and quickly prioritize any urgent requests to the day’s workload!

Whether I’m writing a new training module, researching products and ingredients, or presenting Trilogy to a group of people, my day will nearly always involve talking to someone from the other side of the world. Working for a global brand means I work across many different time zones, which is supported with the business’s advanced technology tools. These tools make it extremely easy to connect and conduct live training sessions for one or many people!

What’s your favorite product from Trilogy?

I tend to alternate my favorite products to keep pace with seasonal changes and my skin’s needs, but my go-to, all-time favorites are Trilogy Ultra Hydrating Cream, for its rich luxe texture, intense nourishment, and ability to banish dehydration overnight; Trilogy Very Gentle Calming Serum, a lightweight and soothing serum perfect for when my skin is stressed and unbalanced; and lastly, Trilogy Gentle Facial Exfoliant, a must-have instant skin brightening and skin-refining weekly treatment.

Trilogy offers incredibly effective natural alternatives to synthetic skin care with products such as the Very Gentle Calming Serum.

Who inspires you?

I’m inspired by all the unsung heroes: teachers, nurses, caregivers, and service people in our communities that work tirelessly and give selflessly to make our lives and world a better place.

Secret to success?

Success comes in many different forms and varies depending on individual goals. For businesses, having inspiring leadership, clear vision, and set goals are critical to success. This coupled with building a great culture and fostering an environment where everyone can have a voice (good ideas can come from anyone) makes for a team that enjoys their jobs and works hard to be part of the success story.

Strong brand values and brand identity are the things which help to grow a local business into a successful global brand. Innovation is also a key driver of success and not being afraid of making mistakes along the way. And of course, nothing great is achieved without hard work!

Beauty secrets?

Find your balance! Most working women struggle with work-life balance, and I feel my happiest and therefore most beautiful when my family and work life is all organized so that I can squeeze in a little bit of ‘me time.’ I truly believe that the essence of beauty is happiness! Happiness combined with well-being and rest can absolutely influence how we feel and see ourselves. That’s why whenever you come back from a holiday, you get comments that you are glowing!

Wellness tip?

Water, water, water! Increasing your water intake or drinking at least eight glasses of water a day will help rid the body and skin of toxins, and keep skin hydrated, supple, and with more of a radiant glow!

Best advice?

It’s never too late to start looking after your skin and buying good quality, certified natural (of course!) skin care products. It’s an investment that will pay dividends in the future!
