Beauty Boss: Fatma Shaheen, Founder of Skin Design London

Fatma Shaheen.

Our latest Beauty Boss is Fatma Shaheen, Founder of Skin Design London—a designer cosmeceutical skin care range whose core ethos of combining super star ingredients such as retinol, antioxidants, and glycolics in exciting new ‘couture compounds’ makes it one of the most dynamic brands in the skin care arena. This philosophy came from Shaheen''s experience of running an aesthetic dental and skin clinic (Azamay) for over a decade, which offered services for patients of all ages.

Her Skin Design London products promise those clinical-style results for all skin types, but without the downtime of more invasive treatments that Azamay offered. We chatted with the beauty brand founder, who shared her beauty and wellness tips, secrets to success, favorite ways to relax, and more:

What inspired the creation of Skin Design London?

Skin Design London was created to give you "The Best Skin Ever." That’s what our clients requested at each treatment planning consultation. Treating clients at my clinic and my desire to make them happy led me to develop Skin Design London. I was frustrated from working with inefficient skin care products and treatments whose formulations failed to deliver skin health. A lot of clients were also choosing the wrong products, which were causing skin issues. I wanted to streamline my clients’ skin care products, the confusion of what works, and what every skin type needs—especially in a crowded market.

How long has the brand been around?

Skin Design London officially launched in March 2017 at Fortnum & Mason in London alongside our flagship Peel & Lift Bar. Since then, we have launched globally in some of the world’s most prestigious stores in the USA, Hong Kong, Thailand, and Europe.

Tell us more about your line and how it improves skin.

My core philosophy is all about skin well-being and health by using a balanced edit of cosmeceutical essentials. Our designer cosmeceutical line-up of products is designed to affect the way skin cells work. We use smaller molecular structures and better penetrator enhancers in our ingredients for a healthy glow by getting deep enough to work on cells and assist the function of the skin.

What’s your favorite product from the line?

They all work so well—it’s difficult to choose, but C Antioxidant Glow is a game-changer combined with Retexturising Serum and Acne Serum.

Where are your products sold?

In the United States, we are available in Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom online, Bloomingdale’s WellChemist, and Shen Beauty. In the United Kingdom, we are available in Fortnum & Mason, Cult Beauty, and John Bell & Croyden. In Hong Kong we are sold in JOYCE Beauty stores, and at BFF stores in Thailand. We launched in Paris this April.
