Behind the Brand: MaryRuth's Products Help People Take Control of Their Health and Wellness

MaryRuth Ghiyam is a a certified nutritional consultant, health educator and culinary chef who created MaryRuth’s, a line of vitamins, supplements, beauty and wellness products.

MaryRuth Ghiyam’s journey into health began after the sudden passing of both her father and brother, followed by her mom’s diagnosis of two brain tumors. She became a certified nutritional consultant, health educator and culinary chef, and has been passionate about showing how micro actions, even as simple as taking a daily multivitamin, can lead to macro change.

4 Essential Supplements for Optimal Health

Her private practice led her to create MaryRuth’s, a mission-driven company that aims to support their customers in their health and wellness goals.

“In order to make our first batch of products, I called manufacturers for six months before one would take the chance on my small order,” Ghiyam says. “I promised them that one day we would become their biggest account and we made good on that promise! For the first several years, it was just me and my mom, Colleen, working on the brand. We were focused on two things: creating the most delicious products and having the most outstanding customer service. Instead of marketing or hiring, we reinvested what the company made into product development. We slowly grew and now we are a team of around 100 people! I’m a mom of four children who is dedicated to making health and wellness accessible to every person and every family across the country.”

The Latest Supplements You Need to Know About

We chatted with Ghiyam, who shared the inspiration behind the brand, favorite products, future plans, and more.

When was MaryRuth’s founded and what’s the meaning behind the name?

In 2013, I had a private practice in New York City where I would help people one-on-one with their health and wellness, covering topics like how to sleep better, gain more energy, lose weight and build powerful habits. My program was rooted in 12 small, simple actions that over time could help anyone accomplish bigger goals. One of those micro-actions was consuming only liquids till lunch, such as water, tea, coffee, vegetable broth and green juice. My clients loved the energy boost this gave them, but let me know if was difficult to take their multivitamins on an empty stomach because the pills made them nauseous. When I couldn’t find a vitamin to recommend that didn’t make them feel queasy, I decided to make a liquid, sugar-free, vegan one of my own! Putting my name on the bottle meant accountability and as the company has grown, we put every new product idea through the same filter: would I feed this to myself and my family?

MaryRuth’s Liquid Morning Multivitamin is a liquid formula that includes minerals, amino acids, and multiple essential vitamins for your body.

Tell us more about your products and what makes them special.

We have over 130 vegan, non-GMO vitamins, supplements, beauty and wellness products in a variety of formats. We are mostly focused on liquids – including our newest line of liposomals.

Liposomals are the next big thing in wellness as science and research is showing that they improve the efficacy and amount of nutrients that get absorbed by the body, more so than other forms of supplements. Our liposomals are so easy-to-take and come in elevated yet playful flavors like the Women’s Multivitamin Liposomal in Vanilla Peach and Kids Multivitamin Liposomal in Strawberry Cherry Vanilla. They have such a smooth texture and were developed using the highest standards: vegan, non-GMO, sugar free, dairy free, gluten free, soy free, wheat free, with phospholipids sourced from sunflowers.

We also offer a large variety of delicious gummies, sprays, drops, capsules and more. After launching the company, I attended and graduated from the Institute of Culinary Education so flavor is always central to our product development process.

Beyond products, we want to help people create a daily routine that inspires them to move forward every day. We’re firm believers that people will make changes when they look forward to the process and so we are driven to make products that people actually want to take. Our hope is that even a small, simple act such as taking a daily vitamin will bring momentum into people’s lives.

Do you have a hero/favorite product?

The very first product we ever made, the Raspberry Liquid Morning Multivitamin, remains to this day our number one bestseller. We get asked all the time by family, friends and customers, if I can only pick one product to start with, which one would you recommend? We always suggest starting with the liquid morning multivitamin! It supports your body’s nutrient needs and includes essential vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, trace minerals and amino acids. It’s vegan, non-GMO, no sugar added. It’s my go-to every day and something that I give to my family at home.
