Behind the Brand: Seven Seven Cosmetics' Clean Skincare Products Are Designed for the Modern Day Minimalist

Seven Seven Cosmetics’ Bath Series ($140) takes self care to the next level with fragrance-free suds, silk bath oil, relaxing salts, and luxurious soak powder.

Celebrity makeup artist Emily Jimison wanted to find a non-toxic makeup spray for her clients and noticed that many skincare products on the market contained harsh ingredients, so she set about to develop her own product line that was clean, effective, and good for the skin.

This led to the creation of Seven Seven Cosmetics—a line of skincare products made with simple and natural ingredients that help simplify one’s daily routine. Her debut product was the Natural Glow Finishing Mist, which is formulated with water, green tea, cucumber, and peppermint. The product became an instant hit among Jimison’s celebrity clientele, helping achieve flawless skin for the red carpet and on camera.

The Best Clean Deodorants for Every Scent Preference

“My background as a makeup artist played a huge role in starting Seven Seven,” says Jimison. “I had gained years of experience and knowledge in helping my clients achieve that ‘flawless’ look. I think I have always had an entrepreneurial side to me. When I saw a gap in the market for multifunctional, easy-to-use products, I knew I had to do something with it. Something everyone could use, not just professionals.”

Seven Seven Cosmetics also uses minimal waste and offers an affordable price point to make the product line more accessible for everyone. Jimison and her brand have also been featured on Forbes and many other media outlets, where she continues to share her personal story while inspiring female entrepreneurs and beauty business owners around the world.

We chatted with Jimison, who shared the inspiration behind the company, what’s next for the brand, and more.

When was Seven Seven Cosmetics founded and what’s the meaning behind the name?

Seven Seven was founded when I was 24 years old. It most definitely started out as just a fun idea and hobby, but eventually blossomed into the brand it is now. I toyed around with the idea of creating multifunctional, straightforward, easy-to-use products back in 2015, and after a lot of brainstorming and research—we finally launched our first product. 7/7 happens to be my birthday and the meaning behind the word "seven" in numerology represents "truth-seeking,” so it felt incredibly on point with the products we were trying to create.

Tell us about your products and what makes them special.

Our products are designed specifically for the minimalist— someone who is looking for staple products that are effective, easy to use, and understand. After years of doing makeup for TV and red carpets, I had people asking me how to achieve that "flawless" look. I realized that there was so much on the market and that people were looking for an easier, more simple way to use skin care. We like to think of ourselves as "skin care in layman's terms." Effective, straightforward yet easy-to-use products that were filled with good-for-you ingredients.

Emily Jimison.

Do you have a hero product? What’s your favorite?

Our hero product and very first launch was our Finishing Mist. It all started because I wasn't able to find a setting spray that had lighter ingredients yet still kept makeup on. I wanted to find a way to create a setting spray that not only kept makeup on but also offered other skin benefits like hydration, protection, and left skin glowing. It's definitely still my most favorite product to this day!

Where are your products sold?

We are direct to consumer, so you can find our products on our website.

What's next for the brand?

We are so excited for the future— continuing to create products that are simple and make skin care easy and enjoyable. There are a lot of new products on the horizon and we can't wait to share! We also have a lot of amazing partnerships coming up that we are super excited about too!
