Celebrity stylist Sean James is one of the most in-demand hairstylists in Hollywood—he regularly works with TV host Chris Hardwick and is currently on a world press tour with actress Jamie Lee Curtis for Halloween. His roster of celebrity clients includes Dylan and Cole Sprouse, Paris Hilton, Brad Pitt, Courtney Love, the Kardashians, and many more.

His numerous accolades include a nomination for “Best Make-Up for a Music Video” for his work on Weird Al Yankovic’s “Handy” video, and he is also the Artistic Director for FHI Heat. If there’s anyone who knows about beauty products, it’s James, so we asked him to share the beauty products and tools he can’t live without:

1. FHI Chrome Styler

“I can’t be without my Chrome Dryer from FHI Heat. I get asked about it a minimum of twice a day. It’s literally the most attention-grabbing tool I’ve used.”

2. Matthew Preece Hair Masque

“The newest of all the product lines is Matthew Preece Salon’s new line. It’s completely toxin-free and has cuticle-healing properties, leaving the hair feeling incredibly nourished. It’s made with the proteins from the baobab tree and a unique blend of essential oils.”

3. Mon Shampoing Shampoo & Essential Oils

“I love many things about this newest line of French hair care products straight from Paris. Not only is it made from all-natural ingredients, but it’s pH-balanced and incredibly nourishing for all types of hair. Their shampoos and conditioners are customizable and come with essential oils that are to die for.”

4. Kerastase Elixir Ultime L’Huile Original Hair Oil

“This is one of my all-time favorite scents for a product, not to mention that you can apply it to wet or dry hair and still have it be effective. I sometimes just rub it on my forearms, I love the scent so much.”

5. FHI Stylus High Altitude

“This is revolutionary in the way it adds volume without that ‘product"‘ feel to the hair. It’s great for short hair as well—I use it to sculpt Jamie Lee Curtis’ punky pixie.”

6. Magic Scalp

“This infrared massaging tool stimulates the blood flow and helps generate hair growth. It’s absolutely relaxing and stimulating, and can be used during a shampoo at the basin or a facial. It’s also a fantastic product that can be taken home and used while watching TV.”
