Dermalogica Co-Founder and skincare trailblazer Jane Wurwand will receive the 2020 Legacy Award, Beauty Changes Lives’ most prestigious honor that is presented annually at the Beauty Changes Lives Experience and recognizes an individual whose career has demonstrated leadership, vision, entrepreneurial spirit, and a lifelong commitment to professional development.

In addition to being an advocate for women’s global economic empowerment and a champion for professional skin care, Wurwand was appointed a Presidential Ambassador for Global Entrepreneurship by President Obama and received the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Cosmetic Executive Women UK.

“Jane’s passion for bringing innovation to the skincare sector, her commitment to nurturing entrepreneurial talent and her success in advancing skillset training and women’s economic independence make her an inspiration to all of us in the professional beauty industry,” says Lynelle Lynch, president of Beauty Changes Lives.

The Beauty Changes Lives Experience is the primary fundraiser for the nonprofit Beauty Changes Lives. The evening unites brands, licensed professionals, salons, students, and influencers to celebrate licensed artists’ success, while providing a platform to mentor and spotlight emerging talent. The special event will take place on Sunday, April 19, 2020 at Chicago’s “The Geraghty” event venue during America’s Beauty Show.

The 2020 event will introduce new elements—including a new category of awardees, the Make Your Mark award—while amplifying classic components of the Beauty Changes Lives Experience. The Make Your Mark category will celebrate those that are poised to make their mark via a career in beauty, and two awardees will be announced.

“The runway fashion show will be even more dramatic and high energy in 2020 and we are especially excited to introduce new categories for next-gen talent to connect with industry leaders who have already made their mark on the industry,” says Lauren Conway, Beauty Changes Lives Executive Director.

Adds Lynch, “The Beauty Changes Lives Event held during America’s Beauty Show is an opportunity for all of the industry to come together across areas of specialty, geographic region and stage of professional development. By celebrating emerging talent, we are letting the world see the inclusive, nurturing nature of the professional beauty industry where established icons support those just beginning their career journey.”

Event sponsors for this year’s event will include Bellus Academy, Wella, CND, Oribe, L’Oreal, Moroccanoil, TIGI, Ulta, and others. Beauty Changes Lives Experience tickets will go on sale in January 2020. A limited number of sponsorships are still available at all levels.
