Loreto is one of Mexico’s beloved Pueblos Mágicos—and for good reason. This seaside destination invites travelers to experience wellness and culture through its pristine natural surroundings, rich culinary offerings, and community traditions.
In 2025, Loreto hosted its first-ever wellness festival, set against the backdrop of the UNESCO-protected Loreto Bay National Marine Park. And there’s plenty in store when it comes to exploring wellness in Loreto in 2026, from guided nature adventures to wellness workshops. We caught up with Sandra Félix, Commercial Director of the Baja California Sur Tourism Board, to get her expert insights on how to get the most of a wellness-focused visit to Loreto.
What are some of your favorite ways to enjoy nature in Loreto, Baja California Sur?

Loreto offers an incredible range of outdoor experiences, thanks to the Loreto Bay National Marine Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with turquoise waters, hidden islands, and remarkable wildlife.
Kayaking is one of my favorite ways to explore the region, and guided tours with operators like Sea Kayak Baja Mexico and Sea Kayak Adventures lead you through hidden coves, cactus-lined cliffs, and crystal-clear snorkeling spots.
The area is also incredible for fishing, diving, paddleboarding, and wildlife viewing—sea lions, turtles, dolphins, and vibrant reef fish are everywhere in what Jacques Cousteau famously called ‘the aquarium of the world.’
In winter, whale watching is truly unforgettable, with blue and humpback whales migrating thousands of miles to these calm, warm waters. Local operators such as Tours Loreto and Wild Loreto offer thoughtful, conservation-minded excursions that bring visitors up close to these gentle giants.”
Can you share a few dining recommendations and any dishes that the area is best known for that are a must-try?

Loreto is best known for its ‘Almejas Tatemadas,’ or Chocolate Clams, and the most iconic place to try them is at Hotel Oasis. They’re prepared using a traditional sand-roasting technique that infuses the clams with smoky, herbal flavors, and every Saturday night guests gather on the beachfront for this one-of-a-kind culinary experience.
You also can’t miss the Clam Festival in June where we celebrate Loreto’s cuisine and traditions.
What are your favorite hotel recommendations for relaxation and adventure?
I always recommend Hotel Oasis, a tranquil retreat on the southern end of the Pueblo Mágico boardwalk that’s perfect for families, groups, business travelers, and sport-fishing enthusiasts looking for a peaceful stay.
I also love La Mision Loreto Hotel, a stunning oceanfront property built in a contemporary Hacienda style. Its location in the town square puts guests right between the Gulf of California and the Sierra de la Giganta, making it ideal for both relaxation and adventure.
What are some of the wellness festivals that come to Baja California Sur?

The Loreto Live Well Experience is one of the region’s standout wellness events, offering everything from yoga and meditation to Qigong, sound healing, and workshops on longevity, emotional resilience, and energy. Public events in Plaza Salvatierra, like family yoga sessions and talks on sustaining personal energy, bring the community together in a meaningful way.
The Todos Santos Wellness Fest is another highlight, known for its immersive yoga and meditation sessions, sound healing practices, nutrition workshops, and a vibrant artisan market that celebrates local culture and craftsmanship.”
Any other unique activities that people should have on their radar?
One of the most unique experiences in Loreto is kayaking or paddling through its protected islands, part of a larger UNESCO World Heritage site, where turquoise waters, secluded coves, and dramatic desert-island terrain create an unforgettable setting.
You also can’t miss the Clam Festival in June where we celebrate Loreto’s cuisine and traditions.
If there was one thing that people should not miss when visiting the area, what would it be?
Definitely going to one of the islands – Coronados is the most popular one, but Danzante is my personal favorite. Luxury Baja Sailing has an amazing day trip to the islands where you can snorkel, stand up paddle board, and enjoy the wonderful service of Jorge and his staff.
Any other tips for getting the most out of a visit to Loreto, Baja California Sur?
To make the most of a visit to Loreto, Baja California Sur, take advantage of the region’s easy access to the Bay of Loreto National Marine Park by booking guided excursions with local experts who can safely lead you to the area’s best kayaking routes, whale watching zones, and snorkeling spots while sharing valuable insight into its UNESCO-protected ecosystems.
