Popular skin care brand Glow Recipe has unveiled a new product, Watermelon Glow Ultra-Fine Mist, and hosted a party to celebrate the launch on February 26. Held at Skybar at Mondrian Los Angeles in West Hollywood, California, the event featured a performance by DJ Denise Love Hewett (@deniselovehewett), along with a signature “Pink Fog” drink inspired by the face mist.

The new Watermelon Ultra-Fine Mist has a unique ultra-fine mist nozzle, which is popular in Korea and also known as a“fog mist”—dispensing a hydration haze that makes it look like you’re walking into a fog. Formulated with 84% watermelon extract and watermelon seed oil, the mist instantly hydrates and soothes skin, while hibiscus flower and apple cider vinegar balance oil production. It also has rice germ oil, which protects against free radicals, and hyaluronic acid keeps skin supple, bouncy, and visibly plump.

Stevie Chong, Director of Public Relations for Glow Recipe, shares skin care tips with attendees.

“This mist is amazing, especially on a really hot summer day,” shared Stevie Chong, Director of Public Relations for Glow Recipe. “Due to the special blend of ingredients, particularly the watermelon, this holds quite a bit of coolness. As you’re spraying it on your skin after keeping it in the fridge, you’re also encouraging a lot of de-puffing action, and your skin will look nice and refreshed. Another thing that I really love about the product is the packaging itself—it’s flat on the bottom and flipped upside-down. You’ll notice all of the watermelon content rises to the top, and having it set upside-down reminds you to shake it every time before using it. I love how Sarah and Christine (Glow Recipe’s founders) really thought about everything when creating this product.”

To celebrate the launch, the brand hosted a special party at Skybar at Mondrian Los Angeles.

Also present at the event were Jeffrey English, Sephora Beauty Director, and Helen Phillips, Sephora Collection National Artist, who shared beauty and skin care tips with attendees while performing demonstrations on models.

Skin Care Tips from Jeffrey: “I’m really big on layering, especially when I’m working on set. I like to feel dimension with texture—when I’m building hydration into the skin, before applying the Watermelon Glow Pink Juice Moisturizer and Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask onto skin, I use the mist first because it helps pull those products deeper into the skin. The mist is like a skin primer, because it helps anything that you put on top of it penetrate even deeper. If my client has really parched skin, I’ll apply the Watermelon Glow Jelly Sheet Mask directly on top to push all of that hydration further into the skin. Then when I apply highlighter or whatever products I’m going to use, it actually melts into the skin. Always make sure that you apply highlighter to hydrated skin so that it melts in. One of my colleagues puts it best: “Highlighter on dry skin is nothing but sparkly dandruff.”

Beauty Tips from Helen: “I like to use the mist as an emulsifier because it creates a liquid highlighter if you mix it with powder. You can lightly spray a natural hair makeup brush with the mist before applying eye shadow. It dries quickly, won’t damage your powders, and doesn’t leave behind a sticky residue. After I spray it I go right in, and it leaves this really nice liquid shine effect. I love to use this as a way to prevent fallout with shimmer. When using the mist with shimmers or glitters, you get more precise application so it’s sticking to exactly where you paste it, and it allows you to apply with more of a sweeping motion than a pressing motion.”

Sephora Beauty Director Jeffrey English uses the mist on a model for a beauty demonstration.

The Watermelon Ultra-Fine Mist retails for $28 and is now available for purchase on glowrecipe.com. It will also be available on sephora.com starting March 5. Follow the brand on Instagram: @glowrecipe
