Interview: Meet Manicurist Shirlee Ann from Marco Pelusi Studio in West Hollywood
This June, Marco Pelusi Studio in West Hollywood welcomed Shirlee Ann, a seasoned professional manicurist with 32 years of experience, to the salon’s talented team. We had the pleasure of speaking with Shirlee to chat about her journey in the nail industry and to get her top nail tips.
Can you share a little about your journey in the industry?
I have been a licensed professional manicurist for 32 years. I’ve had so many enriching and exciting experiences over the course of my career, including working in day spas, hair salons, nail salons, renting stations, and owning my own business. I’ve also done nails for freelance appointments, events, high end fashion shows, red carpets, celebrities, music videos, movies, television, editorial, magazines, and commercials. You name it, I've done it.
Anything you're most proud of?
My greatest accomplishment was completing training and bootcamp with CND, Creative Nail Design in May of 2013, and becoming an independent contractor Education Ambassador with them. It’s such a huge opportunity for me to work with the very best company in the nail business, quality in every way.
Is there a signature technique that you are known for?
I personally specialize in natural nail care, preserving the integrity and health of my clients nails.
When I sit down with each individual client, I try to educate them on how to care for their nails in between services. For example, I recommend cuticle oil daily (CND Solar Oil). I also give them tips for best maintaining their manicures and nail health.
What colors and/or nail trends will be hot for summer?
The summer nail colors for 2024 are bright, sunny, opulent, reflective, festive, and fun. And whether you enjoy long sleek and dramatic nail lengths and shapes or a much shorter nail style, this season’s colors will compliment any nail length.
Favorite nail tip?
My favorite tip is always, “Your nails are jewels, not tools."
What services do you offer at Marco Pelusi Salon?
I feel blessed to have chosen an industry I love so much. I get to hold the hands of wonderful people every day while doing their Nails. That’s priceless.
I am excited for this new chapter of my career as I join Marco Pelusi at his studio in West Hollywood every Wednesday starting in June. I am anticipating more adventures and opportunities to come. My nail services include spa quality manicures, buff and shine manicures, CND shellac gel polish services, CND Plexigel overlays, and full set extensions. I also will offer nail art, nail treatments, and nail repair.
