Jeuveau: The New Alternative to Botox

Jeauveau is the first new brand of neurotoxin to come to the U.S. market in almost a decade.

For the first time in almost 10 years, a new injectable (and the first new brand of neurotoxin to come to the U.S. market) has arrived to help smooth fine lines and wrinkles! Jeuveau was recently FDA-approved to treat severe glabella, aka “frown lines,” now making it one of four options (Botox, Dysport, Xeomin and Jeuveau). It can be used to treat areas of the face including forehead lines, Crow’s Feet, and frown lines. The cost is the same as other injectables.

We spoke with Dr. Paul Jarrod Frank, a celebrity cosmetic dermatologist and founder of PFRANKMD & Skin Salon in New York, to learn more about the new treatment that he is offering.

How is Jeuveau different from neurotoxins currently on the market?

Its longevity is suggested to be a bit lengthier in studies, but is still yet to be determined in clinical practice. Ultimately the details of their difference will only come from experience with the product for a several months both alone and with use of other competitive products

Can you comment on why someone would opt for Jeuveau instead of Botox?

Each wrinkle relaxer on the market has a similar effect but slightly different personality, one not necessarily better, but just different than others. I use all of them regularly, often at the same time on the same patient. It certainly won't replace the other neuromodulators, but we hope it adds a different shade of the same color paint to our artwork.

Can you speak to the trend of injectables with millennials?

With the overwhelming demand for noninvasive procedures and quick fixes, particularly in a younger audience who are looking for a therapeutic and preventative jump on the aging process, we welcome another shade of paint to our palettes of neuromodulator options.
