Life Time Introduces GameFace Sport Program for Children

Life Time, Inc., a chain of athletic resorts, recently launched GameFace Sport, a program where children can become fit and gain confidence.

Life Time, Inc. recently launched GameFace Sport, a program where children can become fit and gain confidence. Life Time Inc. is a chain of athletic resorts across the U.S. and Canada that are dedicated to providing omnichannel wellness, which provides healthy living to its community. 

Part of Life Time’s omnichannel wellness is the Game Face program, which has been around for over 10 years. It comes in different pillars; however, there hasn’t been one for children up until now. Coming with the junior membership, GameFace Sport is an athletic training fundamentals program for children ages 8 to 13. The program is designed to build strength and conditioning skills.

“We wanted to be able to offer something, to get kids moving, to get them active, to get them interested in playing sports,” says DeVentri Jordan, a renowned athletic trainer who developed GameFace’s programs. 

As October is Children’s Health Month, GameFace Sport comes at a crucial time. According to the site, FamilyYouth.com, 70% of children quit sports by the age of 13. The top reason behind this statistic is that sports stopped being fun. Children have also switched to screen activities, which have unhealthy consequences. According to an Active Living Research Report, children who watch three hours of TV or more daily are 65% more likely to become obese than those who watch less than an hour. 

The GameFace Sport Program seeks to encourage kids to fall in love with sports in a fun atmosphere. Jordan explained how GameFace Sport is a one-of-a-kind program that trains children to be better overall athletes. The classes at Life Time not only help children get stronger physically, but it also provides cognitive drills like eye coordination and reaction.

The GameFace Sport program helps meet kids where they’re at and can change their expectations about sports. As children might think high school sports could be overwhelming, GameFace Sport seeks to change this perception by giving children more confidence. 

“We're meeting them where they're at and we're not judging. We just want to help. We just want to help kids become better kids, better athletes, better overall people for our community,” Jordan says. 

Not only are children becoming better athletes, but they can adjust to life overall in a more content way. Jordan hopes that parents could see children being better students in class, wanting to help around the house and just developing character as a whole. 

The classes are being launched at almost all 150 of Life Time’s locations. Classes are held 3 to 5 times per week ranging from 45 to 50 minutes. 

Life Time also offers GameFace programs for middle, high school, collegiate and elite athletes by expanding its D1, Varsity and Elite Programs. These programs are currently offered in the Life Time Sport Winter Park and Life Time New Hope in Minnesota. It will expand to the Boca Raton, Houston and Denver markets coming soon.
