Meet Beautyologie, the First Online Fair Trade Beauty Marketplace for Ethically-Conscious Consumers

Inspired by her love for travel and beauty and her experience in the beauty industry, Robin Tolkan-Doyle has launched Beautyologie, a fair trade and ethically sourced beauty marketplace.

“I’ve always worked in beauty in one way or another, whether in editorial or PR, and I started thinking about ways my background could actually help make a difference in the industry in a more meaningful way, and with global impact,” Tolkan-Doyle says.

The mission of Beautyologie—which means the study of finding beauty in life—is rooted in the idea of using beauty as a vehicle for social change.

“All of the brands on the site are built from the same ethos, which is to empower the people behind the scenes responsible for our beauty products who don’t have the resources to do it themselves,” says Tolkan-Doyle. “There is more power in numbers so I hope that as a collective, Beautyologie can facilitate a stronger impact toward this goal.”

Not only does the website function as an e-commerce and content site where customers can choose from more than 20 different beauty brands worldwide, but it also has a blog and video features as well. The blog, “The Study of Finding Beauty in Life,” focuses on the stories behind the brands that are featured on the website. Tolkan-Doyle looks forward to expanding the site’s video content, or “Beautyologie TV” and continuing to highlight brand owners and their stories.

Since its launch in May 2021, Beautyologie has gathered buzz from the beauty industry for its commitment to ethical and fair trade practices.

“I’ve received an incredible amount of interest from brand owners wanting to be part of the site because they love the mission, it’s such a good feeling,” Tolkan-Doyle says.

As the beauty industry moves toward more ethical and sustainable practices, the demand for socially and environmentally-conscious marketplaces will only increase—and Beautyologie is ready for that shift.

“The more we as consumers demand transparency in the way brands do business, the better this world will be for everyone and everything living on it,” Tolkan-Doyle says.
