Spa Review: We Tried IV Therapy at FIKA Infusion + Wellness

Mountain views walking into FIKA Infusion + Wellness in Salt Lake City.

As a beauty and spa writer, I pride myself on being ‘in the know’ when it comes to new services or spas around town. You can imagine my surprise when my husband informed me about a new wellness center in Salt Lake City, FIKA Infusion + Wellness.

Spa Profile: FIKA Infusion + Wellness

He had good reason to beat me to this new retreat since he is an avid cyclist who is always on the hunt to improve his speed, endurance, and overall health in and out of the saddle. He visited for a “Recover” IV drip and was impressed with both the experience at FIKA and his overall results, so I knew I had to check it out for myself. Fast-forward a week later and I was receiving my very own IV treatment in the lovely FIKA wellness center!

Safety Updates and Protocols:

During the global pandemic, spa-hopping hasn’t been possible much of this year for obvious reasons. In June 2020, I was able to pay a visit to FIKA Infusion + Wellness and felt completely at ease and safe thanks to the many sanitary/safety protocols currently in place. I was required to complete a screening questionnaire prior to my visit, my temperature was taken at the door, and masks are always required for everyone in the space.

Appointments are necessary at this time with limited guests allowed in for social distancing guidelines. A double-filtration HVAC system is installed above the team, thoroughly sanitizing between each appointment. Service providers wore gloves and hand sanitizer was within reach wherever I was. These extra safety steps eased any worries I had going in—even for an eight-month pregnant, extreme worrier.

Masks are required by staff and guests, as seen in FIKA’s lounge area.

FIKA Infusion + Wellness has many sanitary/safety protocols currently in place and plenty of hand sanitizer is available for guests.

The pleasant decor includes plants and plenty of books for relaxed reading.

Here’s what you’ll love about FIKA Infusion + Wellness

  • The calming atmosphere, including large windows for natural light and artfully designed interiors.

  • Signature and customized IV remedies to treat guests based on what the body needs.

  • Vitamin shot options for micronutrient absorption in five minutes.

  • Local brands to shop including Gigi Pip hats, Katie Waltman jewelry, and Minky Couture blankets.

  • Membership perks, group events, and house calls are also available.

Natural light floods into the hallway of FIKA.

Upon checking in, I was blown away by the gorgeous vibe and décor of FIKA. Natural light is abundant with rich warm tones, natural woods, plenty of fresh plants, and high-end finishes. Next, I was given a refreshing coconut water and walked into the lounge and IV-treatment area equipped with dark leather lounge chairs and sleek massage seating.

An open concept treatment area.

FIKA ‘s treatment menu includes a variety of IV drip therapy options and essential vitamin shots.

I looked over the treatment menu and found so many options and IV add-ons I wanted to try! Because I was pregnant during my visit, I had to keep a relatively mild option: a hydrating blend of saline and vitamin C. The process was painless and easy, lasting less than an hour.

Once the IV was started, the needle was safety removed from my arm and replaced by a soft, flexible catheter for optimal comfort. Then I sat in a high-end massage chair while improving my health from the inside out, under the watchful eye of a registered nurse.

In Swedish, FIKA means “coffee break” or “a time to enjoy the good things in life.”

Guests can enjoy a relaxing massage while receiving an IV.

During my treatment, I enjoyed a relaxing remote-controlled massage in one of the comfortable chairs.

The results were felt immediately and for several days to come. The aches and pains of pregnancy were eased, and my mental clarity was sharpened. This is no surprise, since receiving one IV treatment is equivalent to drinking 1.5 to 2 gallons of water! I learned that fluids administered intravenously bypass the digestive tract, allowing micronutrients to be infused directly into the circulatory system for 100% absorption.

FIKA offers an escape from the day-to-day with an elevated experience to improve your wellness routine.

FIKA also offers membership options, group events, and house calls as an easy way to incorporate wellness into your daily life. With IV remedies tailored to treat the ups and downs of life from jet-lag and hangovers to athletic restoring and cleansing, FIKA offers a way to ramp up vitamins and minerals the body may be lacking. The next FIKA IV on my list to try is their Glow Remedy, which is packed with vitamin C, B complex, and biotin for hair, skin, nail strength, and a metabolism boost!

Insider Tip: Talk with FIKA’s on-site medical team as you consider which therapy would benefit you most and how often you should come in. Generally, they recommend guests include FIKA in their wellness routine by scheduling 1-4 treatments per month depending on their needs.
