Spa Profile: Emerald SPA at Emerald Maldives Resort & SPA
Emerald Maldives Resort & SPA is an all-inclusive property and the newest addition to the Emerald Location, consisting of a lagoon and private island with a wraparound reef within walking distance of the beach. The resort includes 60 beach villas and 60 overwater villas designed by architect Edward David Poole, featuring Singaporean and Italian influences combined with modern, elegant interiors. Each villa has solar panels that power the island’s hot water, along with sustainable canopies made from Langhi-Langhi leaves.
The resort is also home to Emerald SPA, a Balinese-inspired spa that is located in a secluded corner of the island. The spa has 10-air conditioned bungalows with stunning amenities that include am Indonesian-style pool, Turkish baths, jacuzzi and sauna. The spa’s menu offers a range of relaxing and healing Balinese and Thai treatments, in addition to couples massage rooms and Ayurvedic massage rooms.
We chatted with Ms. Ni Made Rai Asri, Spa Manager at Emerald Maldives Resort & Spa, who shared insider tips, unique and favorite spa treatments, and more.
Why You’ll Love It: Tucked away in a quiet corner of the island, the setting and atmosphere at the spa are aspects regularly acknowledged by guests as being a true highlight. We are hidden behind lush green canopies that emulate the privacy you might expect from a Balinese jungle, surrounded by the wonders of nature. The highly skilled team at the spa add to the ambience with their warm hospitality and care.
Key Features: The Emerald Spa is built in Balinese style and offers a full range of spa treatments in the privacy of 10 air-conditioned treatment rooms and a dedicated beauty salon. The spa offers Balinese and Thai treatments, as well as a unique relaxation area with an Indonesian style pool, steam bath, sauna and jacuzzi.
Snacks Served: Guests are served a complimentary flower tea to relax and refresh before their treatment.
Insider’s Tip: There are complimentary yoga classes at sunrise on the yoga pavilion to extend relaxation and mindfulness while on the island. This is recommended to prolong the benefits of a massage especially.
Bonus: Guests are served a complimentary flower tea to relax and refresh before their treatment.
Insider’s Favorite: My personal favorite is the Emerald Signature Massage. This treatment is specially designed for Emerald Spa and uses a combination of therapeutic techniques to improve circulation, release muscle tensions, and to lure the guest into deep relaxation. The massage is tailored to each guest to meet their specific needs.
Unique Treatment: The Abhyanga Massage is totally unique. Medicinal oil is applied using medium to gentle strokes in a downward direction, and the soaking of the body encourages appetite, alertness during the day, and reduces stress at night to ensure a deep sleep.
Splurge Treatment: I’d recommend the Emerald Exotic Nectar Body Glow. Elemis’ monoi oil is used in this treatment and the texture of this product offers deep hydration to relieve thirsty skin. You’re cocooned in warmth while the mood-balancing aromatics and conditioning oils do their work.
Featured Products: We use British luxury skincare brand Elemis’ products throughout the spa and for treatments.
