Muluk Spa at Hotel Xcaret Mexico offers an exotic escape and journey of wellness for today's travelers. In Mayan mythology Muluk is represented by a droplet of water and is the most sacred of natural forces representing the idea of hidden or inner potential and an opportunity for growth. To reset routines and prepare for the new world ahead, Muluk Spa offers a series of cleansing rituals steeped in ancient traditions to jumpstart a journey of healing and wellness.

Why You’ll Love It: One of the things our guests enjoy the most is the natural surroundings of the Muluk Spa, including the natural rock caves, rivers, and fauna integrating nature in an organic way and providing a calm and relaxing experience that begins from the moment guests arrive at our reception area. The warm welcome and the amazing hands of our certified therapist make for a unique experience.

Key Features: Muluk Spa's unique design features 21 treatment rooms carved into a rocky hillside and made of stone, including a signature suite that overlooks a natural cenote. A sweat lodge nearby is immersed in the middle of the mystical Riviera Maya jungle, creating a dream-like setting to cleanse the body and mind.

Bonus: At Muluk Spa, we have an outdoor cabin across the river where we offer personalized treatments, including different massage techniques, body treatments, facials, exfoliations, regenerating and antioxidant body wraps, and stretching techniques. This experience takes place in a cabin surrounded by nature and away from the hustle and bustle. This outdoor cabin is the only one of its kind found in Riviera Maya.

Insider’s Tip: Our hydrotherapy circuit is one of our many services that guests are not aware of, therefore, they normally don’t have enough time to enjoy it before their scheduled Spa treatment or massage. For this reason, we always recommend our guests to arrive 80 minutes early to experience this service which allows them to relax and appreciate the unparalleled views and natural surroundings of Muluk Spa.

Spa Snacks: With products found locally and inspired by Mexican traditions, we serve a variety of organic teas, handmade cookies, seasonal fruits, and traditional Mexican sweets. We are currently restructuring our food and beverage menu and in the next few weeks we will be adding naturally flavored waters, coffee and teas tailored to the different spa treatments.

Unique Treatment: Temazcal is a steam bath that has been traditionally used by Mesoamerican cultures that take place inside a special spherical structure. The space represents a mother’s womb (dark, warm, and humid). It is associated with the idea of purification, where the body, mind, and spirit are cleansed. Hot volcanic stones are introduced, at which time water is combined with herbal medicine to create steam. The shaman, a spiritual leader, guides us through the four areas of human life: childhood, youth, adulthood, and old age. It also works with the four elements, the four seasons, and the four cardinal points. The two-hour ceremony has a sense of reconnecting guests with their emotions and ancestors through the stones called “grandmas.” Anyone who experiences a Temazcal treatment is said to be born again, purified from the womb of Mother Earth.

Insider’s Favorite: My favorite treatment is not part of our spa menu, but we offer it to guests as a personalized spa package that includes a combination of a relaxing massage, a body treatment using chocolate, and a hydrating facial, making it a unique and perfect rejuvenating experience.

Wellness Offerings: We offer yoga classes every day of the week from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., Qi Gong Yoga every day from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Temazcal treatment every Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and Yoga Paddle on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. All classes are complementary and require advanced reservation.
