Spa Profile: Palace Spa at Gstaad Palace

Gstaad Palace is a fairytale-like castle that offers the perfect escape in the Swiss Alps.

One of the last family-run luxury hotels in Switzerland, Gstaad Palace combines contemporary glamour with alpine coziness. A variety of accommodation options are available, from a Penthouse Three Bedroom Suite with a whirlpool to an Alpine Suite with mountain views and a wet bar. Amenities include an indoor and outdoor pool, a fitness room equipped with high-quality Technogym equipment, as well as a squash court.

Guests enjoy being pampered from head-to-toe in the hotel’s 1,800 square-meter Palace Spa, which includes a hammam and luxurious private spa suite. The spa offers exceptional wellness experiences and treatments, including a unique Cellgym altitude-training system designed to help enhance the guest experience when dealing with altitude sickness in the high mountains.

We interviewed Estelle Gomes, Spa Manager of Gstaad Palace, who provided insider tips and spa bonuses, favorite treatments and amenities, and more.

Gstaad Palace is one of the last family-run luxury hotels in Switzerland.

Why You’ll Love It: Our guests love the Palace Spa because they feel like it’s the best place to reconnect; they truly feel at home and enjoy meeting new people. They also thoroughly enjoy our spa facilities, including the natural daylight that comes through the spa and the fireplace area to chill and relax before or after treatments.

Palace Spa, which offers 5-star wellness at the highest level, includes a relaxing lounge with a fireplace.

Key Features: We are an 1,800 square-meter spa with 9 treatments rooms and 2 suites. We have an indoor pool heated at 29 degrees with a snack bar, where we provide healthy snacks and juices. There is a fitness and yoga activity room, relaxation room, and sauna-hammam-experience showers for men and ladies—both have access to the terrace garden. We also have an indoor and outdoor Jacuzzi with the most scenic views of the Swiss Alps.

Palace Spa has a 60 meter-long stone wall built with granite from the nearby Blausee region to lend a unique alpine feeling to the atmosphere.

Insider’s Tip: We provide tailor-made services and each guest will get a personalized tip during his or her spa journey.

Snacks Served: Healthy salads, sandwiches, desserts, some juices, smoothies and hot beverages.

Guests can spend time in the relaxation lounge with views of the Swiss Alps before and after their spa services.

Bonus: Guests are served a welcome drink before their treatment when they arrive.

Insider’s Favorite: Herbal Kizhi Detox. We start with a rose scrub from the Himalayas, followed by herbal Ayurveda pouches. It just has amazing the benefits and guests feel rejuvenated, balanced and energized at the same time.

A hammam is among the spa’s unique amenities.

Unique Treatment: I would recommend either of the following:

  • The Hammam Experience. You get an authentic experience as if you were in Morocco. It’s a ritual in which you walk around 5 rooms and finish with a couples massage in front of the fireplace.

  •  Master Kambli 2500 Years Old Spinal Cord Therapy. This unique technique, practiced only by Master Kambli, combines the teachings of his masters to heal dead tissues, restore organ function, as well as work on a deep level of the brain, the vertebrae and nerves while balancing the spinal cord.

Guests can embark on a two-hour retreat in the hammam, consisting of a harmonious sequence of six rooms.

Splurge Treatment: Rose Diamond Facial and Shiva Ananda Treatments. These are authentic and traditional therapies from 2,500 years ago that originate in India.

The spa has eight treatment rooms, including a luxurious private spa suite.

Featured Products: Jardin des Monts, Shiva Ananda Sisley, and The Organic Pharmacy. We also carry nice retail offerings by Ana Heart,  Avrone, Baboon’s, Emyun, Melissa Odabash, and our new pop-up “ Varana.”
