Spa Profile: Raffles Spa at Raffles Hotel Singapore
Open since 1887, Raffles Hotel Singapore is an iconic property that has welcomed movies stars and other notable guests throughout multiple decades including Elizabeth Taylor, Ava Gardner and Rudyard Kipling. It is also known as the birthplace of the world-famous Singapore Sling, the country’s national drink that was first created in 1915 by bartender Ngiam Tong Boon.
Although the hotel recently underwent an extensive restoration, the Colonial-style estate retains its regal elegance and Old World charm surrounded by lush tropical gardens. Located in the heart of Singapore’s bustling business and civic district, Raffles Hotel Singapore is within close proximity to local sites and attractions while at the same time, offering guests a relaxing and magical escape.
The hotel is also home to Raffles Spa, a luxury wellness sanctuary that offers bespoke spa treatments in a tranquil and elegant setting. The spa is located within the Raffles Arcade and features separate lounge areas for men and women, thermal facilities, as well as a private area with its own treatment room and facilities that can cater to special celebrations. The treatment rooms are named after gemstones and each one comes with an en-suite shower and dressing room, while the spa menu offers a wide array of dedicated and personalized experiences ranging from hydrotherapy wellness services to body treatments, facials, massages and more.
Spa Profile: Raffles Spa at Raffles Istanbul
We interviewed Dianne Lim, Wellness Specialist at Raffles Hotel Singapore, who shared insider tips, recommended treatments to try, and more.
Why You’ll Love It: They love our massages such as the Signature Gemstone Massage, Absolute Relaxing and Rescue & Release Massage, as well as the luxurious space of our single treatment rooms. They also enjoy the ensuite Gem Suite with its vitality pool, aromatic steam room, infra-red sauna and ice fountain, which is fit for a couple or a party of four.
Key Features: Raffles Spa offers full spa facilities with gender separated spaces, including lockers, a steam room, traditional sauna and vitality pool with healing minerals of organic Ormus salt. Guests can also enjoy a relaxing lounge, which offers healthy snacks consisting of our signature healthy energy balls made in-house by our chef, alongside coconut chips and fruits.
Additionally, our massage beds offer maximum comfort for guests with adjustable hand, face, back and leg rests, and they have built-in heaters. Many guests also want to take home our luxurious silky, soft and cooling treatment linens that we use on the massage beds.
Spa Snacks: The relaxing lounge offers healthy snacks that guests can enjoy in-between treatments, including our signature healthy energy balls from our chef, coconut chips, and an assortment of fresh fruits.
Insider’s Tip: We recommend that guests alternatingly use the crushed ice from the ice fountain before going into the next heated facility. This ice therapy helps relax muscles and strengthen the immune system, and tightens pores after heated therapy.
Bonus: Guests have the option of enjoying a glass of champagne after their treatment, served in the relaxing lounge. Both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options are offered.
Splurge Treatment: Our Gem Suite experience is a great “splurge” treatment that guests can enjoy with their loved ones. The experience offers 90 minutes of choice treatments within the Gem Suite and use of the facilities. Guests end the experience with a delightful afternoon tea in the Gem Suite Lounge.
Unique Treatment: Our Raffles Signature Gemstone Massage, which is a 90-minute treatment that incorporates five different gemstone massages with corresponding massage oils. These include:
Carnelian Stone/Oil: used for the stomach area. It is warming and aids digestion
Red Jasper Stone/Oil: used for the lower parts of the body and feet for grounding
Amethyst: used for the chest, shoulder and neck to open up the chakras
Clear Quartz: used for point pressure on the face to rejuvenate and aid circulation
Rose Quartz: used for arms and hands to promote lymphatic drainage
Insider’s Favorite: The Gemstone Massage is my favorite as it is very therapeutic. The gemstones interact with the body on a vibrational level to restore the balance of the body and this leaves me with a greater sense of relaxation.
