Spa Profile: Spa of the Rockies at Glenwood Hot Springs Resort

Glenwood Hot Springs Resort is a historic landmark and wellness destination located in Glenwood Springs, Colorado.

Glenwood Hot Springs Resort is a historic Colorado landmark resort and the ultimate Colorado wellness destination located 165 miles west of Denver. It is home to a world-famous hot springs pool, 107-room lodge, a premier athletic club, and a spa. The bathhouse and hot springs pool opened to the public in July 1888, and the resort also has the Sopris Splash Zone—a family-friendly, water-centric aquatic park located at the west end of Glenwood Hot Springs Pool that consists of three distinct areas: Shoshone Chutes, Hanging Lake, and the Grand Fountain.

Considered the premier fitness center in the region, the Athletic Club is located in the historic stone bathhouse. In addition to the state-of-the-art fitness equipment, a full roster of daily classes, and top-notch facilities, members and guests have unlimited access to the Glenwood Hot Springs Pool.

The award-winning Spa of the Rockies features a menu of treatments that reflects current technology and trends, offering guests holistic opportunities to relax and rejuvenate. All guests enjoy a complimentary foot ritual followed by a therapeutic soak in the mineral hot springs, as well as access to the Athletic Club for the day. A highly skilled Spa of the Rockies therapist typically employs a variety of massage practices that can include deep tissue work, trigger point release and range of motion techniques that aim to stretch muscles and introduce pliability to ligaments and tendons.

We interviewed Spa Director Holleigh Ramsey, who shared insider tips, recommended spa treatments to try, and more:

Our innovative facial duo merges the best of both worlds: a HydraFacial acid and peptide resurfacing treatment with LED skin therapy and an Intraceuticals rejuvenating infusion of hyaluronic acid, antioxidants, and vitamins with NuFace Micro-Lift. The result is an unparalleled hydration, visible age-defying firmness, and noticeable lift to your skin.

All guests enjoy a complimentary foot ritual upon their visit to the spa.

Insider’s Favorite: It really is difficult to choose just one favorite!

There are 15 minerals found in the water of the Hot Springs Pool, which in addition to relieving aches and pains, helps naturally eliminate toxins, increase circulation, and reduce blood pressure.

Unique Treatment: Both of the Indigenous-Inspired Rituals are quite unique. Our Walk In the Woods experience takes its inspiration from forest bathing therapy and incorporates it with locally native ingredients to help guests wind down and disconnect from the chaos of daily life. This experience includes an exclusive “sticks and stones” full body massage, a healing red clay body wrap, and an invigorating Vichy rain shower dance.

Our other Indigenous-Inspired Ritual, Native Awakening, takes inspiration from Native American culture and purification ceremonies, representing different phases of ritual “sweats” to heal and purify the mind, body, and soul. The experience incorporates both symbolic and physical elements important to purifications such as a willow branch tapotenment, sage cleansing, a heated full body wrap of crushed corn and clay, a full body massage using steamed medicinal herbal compresses and cool fluorite stones.

All spa guests have the opportunity to enjoy a therapeutic soak in the mineral hot springs.
