In addition to 77 deluxe guest rooms and eight suites, The Allison Inn & Spa offers a farm-to-table dining experience at its signature restaurant JORY, with dishes that accentuate the native flavors of the area along with thoughtful wine pairings. We chatted with Tara Cartlon, Spa Director at The Allison Spa, who shared insider tips, recommended treatments to try, and more.
Why You’ll Love It: The Allison Spa has a warm, welcoming atmosphere that encourages guests to feel safe and comfortable with therapists. We’ve noticed that this feeling really resonates with visitors as it allows them to get in the right mindset for experiencing spa treatments to the fullest.
Key Features: The Allison Spa offers a wide array of amenities including a Eucalyptus steam room, dry cedar sauna, an incredible pool, a Himalayan Salt Therapy room, and four different lounges including the private Sky Suite.
Bonus: Every day our Pastry Chef makes delicious chocolate truffles by hand that guests receive following their treatment in a blue Tiffany-style box. It’s a really sweet way to end the spa experience.
Snacks Served: At The Allison Spa guests can offer light fare including salads, hummus, a cheese plate, and freshly baked cookies. We also have a nice wine selection given we’re based in Oregon’s Wine Country.
Insider’s Tip: By booking just one treatment, guests can utilize all spa facilities including the steam room, sauna, and lounge. Our new HydraFacial treatment is an extremely deluxe facial due to the technology involved. In fact, this is offered at a lot of medi-spas as it uses a unique, patented Vortex-Fusion delivery system to exfoliate, extract, and hydrate skin. So by booking this, guests are able to get one of the best facials of their life on top of all the other Allison Spa offerings.
Insider’s Favorite: My personal favorite right now would be the “Moroccan Oil Body Ritual.” It has a gorgeous citrus undertone that we find appeals to people of all genders. The treatment is truly a head-to-toe experience where guests will be pampered with a body dry brush exfoliation, intense hydrating argan and vitamin E body treatment, orange peel buff for hands and feet, relaxing hot stones, light massage for the neck and shoulders—and as if that wasn’t enough pampering, we conclude with a warm scalp treatment and hair mask.
Splurge Treatment: Our Sky Suite is a favorite splurge treatment for everything from bridal or birthday parties to corporate events or even just a spontaneous escape. The suite is essentially a private, personal spa that guests can rent for a half day or full-day retreat. Here they can get and order light fare—it’s actually the only lounge we can deliver food to.
Unique Treatment: We have quite a few unique treatments. There's a beautiful outdoor massage called the “Zen Den Garden Massage” that is the most serene experience. It’s an essential style massage held in a private, outdoor garden surrounded by fresh air and the sounds of nature.
We also have a unique “Decompress” service with steamed herbal compresses based off of treatments used as a Thai remedy for over 400 years. This treatment offers deep relaxation, stress relief, and body alignment with a perfect balance of compressing and traditional hand massage technique and includes a take-home herbal compression ball. One thing that makes this really unique is that the compression ball is essentially a farm-to-massage table gift as the dried herbs used are grown right in The Allison’s 1.5-acre garden.
Featured Products: We use a variety of products including Naturopathica and FarmHouse Fresh, but the spa also sources many products from our own garden. For example, all our signature “Pinotherapy” treatments are sourced from The Allison vineyard’s own grapeseed. The winemaker dries out the seeds and then ships them to a Santa Barbara grapeseed company that makes the spa’s polyphenol-rich products, which are then used for wraps and scrubs.
