Spa Profile: The Spa at Sedona Rouge

Sedona Rouge Hotel & Spa is located in Sedona, Arizona and set against the area’s natural red rock formations.

Located in magical Sedona, Sedona Rouge Hotel & Spa is a unique desert oasis set against Arizona’s beautiful red rock formations, which can be seen from many of the property’s comfortable guest rooms. Built in a distinctly Mediterranean style, the hotel is within close proximity to various outdoor adventures and expeditions.

In addition to a heated swimming pool and jacuzzi, other amenities include a fitness studio, rooftop terrace with views of the Red Rocks, an on-site grill and bar, as well as The Spa at Sedona Rouge—a natural destination for relaxation, healing and wellness. Spa guests receive access to the property’s hot tubs, steam rooms, fitness room and outdoor heated swimming pool. The spa’s team of licensed massage therapists and experienced estheticians provides a full menu of regenerative services, including locally-inspired treatments, that are customized according to guests’ needs.

We spoke with Debra Henrickson, The Spa at Sedona Rouge’s Spa Director, who shared insider spa tips, special bonuses, recommended treatments, and more.

The grounds include a spacious courtyard set against a stunning backdrop.

Why You’ll Love It: Our guests give us feedback about how much they love how they feel in the environment of our spa. As they continue on that topic, they talk about our warm and friendly spa team. Along with being highly trained and experienced, our spa team shares a common bond of awareness and gratitude for the healing environment and natural beauty of Sedona. I absolutely feel that our guests can sense that connection of our team to each other and the Sedona energy.

Key Features: Guests enjoy our eucalyptus steam room and private outdoor hot tubs located in the men’s and women’s locker rooms. We offer daily yoga classes in our quiet meditation room or outside, depending on the class size and temperature. We also have a fitness center for indoor exercise, in addition to amazing hiking trails located minutes from our location. Our spa guests also have access to the hotel swimming pool and two hot tubs located near the spa.

Insider’s Tip: My tip would be to experience our Inner Peace Day Package, which starts with an 8 a.m. yoga class followed by breakfast, access to the facilities, and a 60-minute spa service. This package encourages guests to give themselves the gift of time to really relax, breathe, and just be.

Spa guests enjoy access to the resort’s heated swimming pool along with a cozy outdoor fireplace and seating area.

Snacks Served: We offer a variety of fresh fruit, organic teas, and fruit-infused water that has been charged with the energy of positive words such as love, gratitude and peace (per Dr. Masaru Emoto’s studies). Our guests also can order appetizers and cocktails from our hotel restaurant, Reds.

From the rooftop terrace, guests can star gaze and catch unobstructed views of the area’s Red Rocks.

Bonus: Again, the energy of our spa provides a special bonus to our guests. The vaulted ceilings, large windows and natural light in our relaxation lounge also encourage guests to slow down, breathe and rest.  Guests can relax on the patio and enjoy appetizers and meals ordered from Reds. We also provide water, which is charged with the energy of positive words such as love, gratitude and peace.

Spa guests also enjoy complimentary use of the jacuzzi.

Insider’s Favorite: Currently, my favorite spa service is Myofascial Bodywork. We have a number of therapists who are highly trained in the Barnes Technique, which is highly therapeutic and effective for releasing chronic tension and holding patterns of the body. To me, the therapy feels like receiving a passive, very deep stretch of the whole body—it’s amazing!

Unique Treatment: We offer specialty bodywork such as craniosacral therapy, myofascial bodywork, lomi lomi, and cupping, which are not always found in hotel spa settings. I’m also in the process of creating a menu of body/mind services with various energy practitioners. With all of that said, we also offer a beautiful massage treatment called Sedona’s Seven Sacred Pools, which was inspired by specific rock formations and natural pools here in Sedona. The service incorporates essential oils, heated river rocks, and energy work to balance the seven chakras.

Splurge Treatment: Definitely the Hammam Spa Ritual. This two-hour treatment is based on the skin care practices of traditional Turkish bath houses, and features supremely therapeutic and aromatic red flower products. It begins with a purifying cleanser, followed by a body scrub and a clay body mask, then finishes off with a bath salt soak and aromatherapy massage. It’s so luxurious and soul nourishing!

Featured Products: We feature Green Soul Botanicals face and body products, which are all natural and small batch created in the Sedona area. We feature oils and body products by Body Bliss, another local product line. We also feature emerginC Rawceuticals, Scientific Organics, and Tara products.
