Spa Review: Deep Relaxation at The Spa at Four Seasons Atlanta
On a recent trip to Atlanta, Georgia I splurged on a stay at the Four Seasons and booked a massage at their on-site. It was a great experience that lived up to the reputation the Four Seasons has earned for exceptional service.
Check-In
Check-in was very simple. Before my appointment, the spa sent me a link to fill out a standard pre-service questionnaire asking about health conditions. I appreciated being able to complete this form ahead of time.
Normally, my spa experiences start with filling out paperwork and this was a welcome change of pace. The spa is right off the hotel’s expansive lobby and was easy to find. I simply checked in with the front desk and was ushered to the spa’s locker room where I was given a brief explanation of the amenities available to me as a spa guest.
The Locker Room
The spa’s locker room is big and well-appointed. The spa provides plush robes and slippers. It also has beautifully tiled showers, a wood-burning sauna, and a eucalyptus steam room.
The Relaxation Room
The Spa at the Four Seasons recently renovated its relaxation room. It’s luxe with comfortable velvet furniture, spa water, tea, and light refreshments. I was so relaxed in the serene room I wasn’t sure I wanted to leave when my massage therapist came to get me for my massage.
My Service
As soon as I lay down on the massage table I noticed the Four Seasons difference. The table was heated to the perfect temperature, which helped me maintain the deep relaxation I had achieved in the spa’s relaxation room.
I booked a custom massage which allowed me to completely customize every aspect of the massage, from the type of pressure I preferred to whether or not to use aromatherapy. My massage therapist asked me a series of questions before starting and I appreciated the ability to request exactly what I wanted rather than having to choose from a set menu of pre-packaged services with add-ons. Once my massage was over, I was offered a Prosecco or mimosa at no extra charge, which was a nice change from the standard post-massage tea or water at other spas.
The Pool and Hot Tub
A highlight of my visit to the spa was relaxing at the hotel’s bright, tranquil pool deck and lounging in the hot tub. The beautiful white pool deck with relaxing blue accents has the look and feel of a high-end spa. It is well worth a visit. On warm days, guests can head outside to relax on the patio adjacent to the pool where there are lounge chairs and tables and chairs.
Treatment Options
The Spa at the Four Seasons Atlanta has a full complement of services, including nail services, massages, facials, and wellness treatments like LED light therapy. Just as with my massage, the spa offers custom facials or the ability to customize treatments, such as combining a massage and body scrub in one treatment.
Dining Options
Guests can enjoy the hotel’s on-site restaurant, Bar Margot, or order meals and drinks poolside. There are also light bites available in the relaxation room.
Cost
As with most spas, costs vary widely depending on the service. My 50-minute custom massage costs $200. Shorter 25-minute massages start at $115. The spa’s signature “Midtown Massage” is 80 minutes and costs $320.00. Couples massages start at $420. Facials and body treatments run from $120 to $520.
Special Experiences
The Spa at the Four Seasons Atlanta offers an exclusive Night Spa experience. Guests who book this experience enjoy an after-hours experience for two at the hotel’s pool. The package includes a couples’ poolside massage, private access to the pool and hot tub, and a curated selection of chef’s bites and champagne. This package starts at $1,500 and can be customized.
The spa also regularly offers seasonal treatments, such as a Rose Renewal pedicure for summer.
Overall, my experience at the Spa at the Four Seasons Atlanta was sublime.
Parking
Valet parking is available at the hotel. There is also a parking lot adjacent to the hotel that may offer lower rates.
Insider Tips
Bring a swimsuit to enjoy the hotel’s fantastic indoor heated pool and hot tub. While it’s possible to stop by the spa for a service and leave, we recommend making a day of it and allotting plenty of time to use the complimentary relaxation room, sauna and steam room, and pool and hot tub and enjoying a meal at the hotel’s renowned restaurant. The spa recommends arriving at least 30 minutes early and I agree with this recommendation to make sure you have some time to enjoy the amenities, even if you are planning on making your visit to the spa a quick one.
