We Chat All Things Beauty with Dr. Zoe, a Board Certified Nurse Practitioner Who Specializes in Aesthetics and Anti-Aging Medicine
I recently had the pleasure of sitting down with Dr. Zoe Gazola, who practices in both Miami and New York. We were able to chat about her career, aesthetics, anti-aging, and all things beauty. I always enjoy the opportunity to meet with strong, amazing women. Here’s what she had to say:
How she started her career in medicine: Dr. Zoe is a Board Certified Nurse Practitioner who specializes in aesthetics and anti-aging medicine. She has been in private practice for 11+ years and works at the Indigo Clinic. She always knew that she wanted to be in the medical field and never had any other career plans. She has over 16 years of combined experience in plastic surgery, dermatology, and primary care. She started her career as a medical assistant for a plastic surgeon, then became a nurse in the ICU before eventually becoming a Doctorate Trained Nurse Practitioner.
Dr Zoe’s inspiration: Dr. Zoe finds inspiration in her indigenous Mexican roots. She has always been inspired and fascinated by the healing power of native plants and herbs.
Advice for anyone interested in starting a career in the medical field: Dr. Zoe encourages anyone starting out to volunteer in different settings and areas of practice. She stresses the importance of trying out different things, gaining different experiences, and finding out for yourself what area you are interested in.
Why Dr. Zoe chose to focus on aesthetics and anti-aging: Dr. Zoe prides herself on catering to the specific needs of her individual patients, especially women of color. Early on in her career, she began to notice a trend of aesthetics that were not geared towards women of all different races and ethnicities.
She focuses on enhancing beauty within each person’s traits and features. She has also developed a relationship working with the LGBT and transgender communities and facial harmonization. Dr. Zoe has been able to help her patients meet their aesthetic goals through all phases of their transition.
Beauty tips: A good skincare routine and wear your SPF!
How to choose an injector: Dr. Zoe emphasizes the importance of looking for a provider who matches your aesthetic style and the look you want to achieve.
It’s important to contact the provider, ask for a face-to-face consult, and make sure you are going to someone who has the proper training.
Favorite woman-owned businesses:
Bella’s Image Aesthetics — Located in New York, they provide post-operative care, and Dr. Zoe loves how they take such good care of their patients.
Erase Spa — Another one of Dr. Zoe’s favorites. Also located in New York, they specialize in laser hair removal.
What brings Dr. Zoe joy: Sport fishing. Dr. Zoe has a love for kayaking and fishing, especially snapper and barracuda.
Even though we were on different coasts, I felt like I was right there with Dr. Zoe having a girl talk session. She is extremely down to earth, outspoken, and honest.
We discussed so many different topics, including problems with Photoshopping, misrepresentation, and the dangers of at home beauty peels. I love and appreciate how her practice is able to reach such a diverse population. She is able to make her patients feel beautiful by enhancing their own unique features and helping them achieve their individual aesthetic goals. I could immediately tell how much she loves what she does and how much she cares for her patients.
I also love that she is all about that #nofilter life.
