We Joined Shiseido to Celebrate the Launch of ControlledChaos MascaraInk

We joined Shiseido at Japan House LA to celebrate the launch of ControlledChaos Mascara.

An invitation to Japan House Los Angeles is a special honor, especially when that invitation is from Shiseido to learn about an exciting and mysterious new product. On March 9, I headed to Japan House to see what this new launch was all about.

The event started out with a Shibori Dye demonstration by Lisa Silvera, while guests enjoyed Montechiarra Prosecco and the Hollywood Walk of Fame view. After the demonstration, guests entered the stunning dining room that was the inspired by Ginza’s iconic crossing, known for its rush of people, sound, and light. We learned that the new launch was ControlledChaos MascaraInk, a featherweight mascara that comes in bold, full-coverage colors.

Shiseido Makeup Global Color Artist Patrick Ta presented opening remarks as guests dined on traditional Japanese Bento boxes. Guests included actresses Rowan Blanchard, Cara Santana, and Yi Zhou, The Bachelor’s Becca Tilley (@beccatilley), beauty expert Deepica Mutyala (@deepica), entrepreneur Rachel McCord (@iamrachelmccord), beauty and fashion blogger Sona Gasparian (@sonagasparian), and many more.

Ginza crossing inspired the bold, full-coverage colors and shade names for the new mascara. Besides black, the mascara comes in three additional vibrant, high-pigment colors that make lashes pop. The colors include Black Pulse, Sapphire Spark, Violet Vibe, and Emerald Energy. The formula is designed to increase lash volume by 250% and length by 47% after just one coat.

“Worn alone or layered over black, these rich, saturated colors really pop at night,” says James Boehmer, Global Director of Artistry for Shiseido Makeup.

Sapphire Spark is one of four ControlledChaos MascaraInk colors.

J-Beauty Tip: After curling lashes with Shiseido’s iconic Lash Curler, position the flat side of the brush at the base of lashes and zig-zag it back and forth for dramatic definition. Use the curved, hourglass side of the brush to coat lashes from root to tip. Boehmer suggests using ControlledChaos MascaraInk as an “accessory” to your everyday makeup routine. Create a single-statement eye by wrapping lashes with a coat of unexpected color on top and bottom. For a subtler look, layer the Sapphire Spark, Violet Vibe, or Emerald Energy over Black Pulse to add “interest and dimension.” For a brightening effect, apply Sapphire Spark to instantly illuminate eyes.
