Week 17 of Weekly Wellness: Buff & Glow Exfoliation Mask

A look inside Farmhouse Fresh’s Sand Your Ground Clarifying Mud Exfoliation Mask.

For this week’s #WeeklyWellness2021 Challenge, I kept things simple and pulled out a facial exfoliating mask from one of my favorite brands, Farmhouse Fresh. Since traveling a couple of weeks ago, I’ve felt a bit worn down and my skin is in need of a pick-me-up. Sand Your Ground seemed like just what I needed to bring a glow to a lackluster look and feel!

Sand Your Ground Clarifying Mud Exfoliation Mask

Sweet and earthy, this mask is dual action as it works to absorb oil and micro-buff the skin. Red Arizona Montmorillonite clay feels cooling on the skin and eats away at bacteria and toxins while medium-grain powdered volcanic pumice gives it a gritty feel and a powerful polishing action. Willow bark extract offers strong astringent properties that aid in improving skin’s texture, balanced by organic glycerin for moisture retention. Recommended for dull, congested or acneic skin types.

To use, wet the skin and apply in circular motions, rubbing gently to exfoliate the face. It also works great from head-to-toe on rough patches or on the bikini area to target ingrown hairs. You can rinse immediately or let the mud dry for a few minutes to take advantage of the benefits of the clay (this is how I use the mask!)

If you’ve got active breakouts and/or redness, it’s probably best to skip the scrubbing and use as a mask alone. Though my skin doesn’t suffer with breakouts, I love using it twice a week for an  immediate difference in radiance and texture.

Why Exfoliate, Anyway?

The skin is composed of layers with dry, dead skin at the top. This skin will naturally slough off, but a buildup of dead skin can give a dull, rough appearance. Exfoliation removes the top layer of dormant skin cells, giving way for younger and more vibrant skin buried beneath.

Exfoliation not only recharges skin, but is a catalyst for other benefits too, allowing targeted products like serums, masks, and moisturizers to penetrate better, thus treating and moisturizing faster and more effectively. Upping my exfoliating is always a quick and easy solution if my skin seems lackluster.

Farmhouse Fresh is made in the USA, packaged by hand, and uses organic, natural, and clean beauty ingredients and practices. I’ve yet to meet a product that doesn’t look, smell (their scents are next level), and feel completely spa-worthy. Plus, the brand  offers a commitment to save neglected and abused animals though their ”skin care that saves mission” with a portion of proceeds from product sales!
