Week 7 of Weekly Wellness: Climate-Controlled Skin Care

Pour Moi’s Mountain Day Cream ($35) for high-altitude climates.

Skin Care for Your Specific Location

I’ve became a bit of a snob when it comes to skin care. After completing esthetics school over a decade ago, working as a skin therapist in spas and then onto corporate marketing for high-end skincare brands, I’ve been pampered to say the least. Although I have had access to some of the best formulations and spa-only brands, I’ve never been above using a great drugstore find or a 5-star Amazon rating. Enter: Pour Moi Skincare.

Pour Moi came onto my radar a couple of months ago and I was immediately interested when I learned the skincare system is specifically formulated for local climate. I’ve observed the effects climate has on skin working in the treatment room as an esthetician in Utah. No matter the skin type, every local client I saw suffered from the effects of dehydrated mountain air.

Week 6 of Weekly Wellness: Olive & June At-Home Manicure

In contrast, when traveling to tropical climates while on vacation, I’d have to re-think my skincare choices due to humidity, temperate, altitude, etc. I’m a believer in the brand’s basis—the climate you’re in changes your skin. I knew I had to try out this patented Climate-Smart® skin care, stat!

Having launched just last year, Pour Moi has already snagged a spot on TIME’s Best Invention List 2020 for their 3-Step Rotating System. Basically, you swap out moisturizers based on the changing climate. Each product is designed and formulated based on specific climates to optimize the skin’s Natural Moisturizing Factor (or NM). Made in France, the line is unscented, vegan, and tested in both clinical climate chambers and natural climates.

This week’s skincare lineup of high-altitude must-haves.

My Pour Moi Experience

I’d been testing Pour Moi for a bit now, but for this week’s #WeeklyWellness Challege, I went all in. Since I live in Utah, I tried the Arid Mountain high-altitude collection, testing Hydrating Balancer-Light, Clarifying Polish, Black Serum, Mountain Day Cream, and Night Cream. It was nice to focus on an entire regimen from one brand since I’m typically dabbling in a mix. Since this was my wellness challenge, I was extra consistent with the instructions, using the line morning and night as instructed.

Week 5 of Weekly Wellness: Two Steps to Shiny Hair

Pour Moi’s Black Serum ($65) with diamond powder helps remove skin dryness.

My skin felt comfortable and nourished with no breakouts. I even noticed a dewy appearance, which in Utah’s harsh air is hard to come by for me. I thought the textures and application of the entire line was nice and smooth. The stand-out products for me were the Black Serum and Clarifying Polish.

Week 4 of Weekly Wellness: 21 Minutes for 21 Days

Black Serum is infused with antioxidants, bio-actives, and diamond dust for a rich anti-aging experience. Quite thick upon application, the sparkling serum settles nicely into the skin. I used this morning and night, prior to Mountain Day Cream/Night Cream. The Clarifying Polish has a calming jelly feel that transforms into a milky cleanser with precious sugars for a granular exfoliation. I loved the feel of the polish and used it three times a week in place of my regular cleanser.

Cost:  $150 for 3-Step System (4 Products)

Overall, I think Pour Moi would be a good option, especially if you’ve struggled in a particular climate. The 3-Step System is easy and straightforward to use with options for mountain, polar, serene temperate, marine, desert or tropical. Check out their website for easy quizzes and tools to find out the best Pour Moi solution for you or see what they’re up to on Instagram.
