Spa Profile: Sunrise Springs Spa Resort, An Ojo Spa Resort, Santa Fe

Sunrise Springs features 90,000 square feet of thoughtfully-designed spaces that embody the textures and tones of the stunning high desert.

Located in enchanting Santa Fe, New Mexico, Sunrise Springs Spa Resort, An Ojo Spa Resort, features 70 tranquil acres of gardens, walking paths and scenic high desert landscape that surrounds the historic spring-fed waters. The Sunrise Springs experience is customized for each guest, blending fitness, nutrition, spa therapies and wellness services with ancient wisdom and healing traditions.

The grounds include yoga and fitness studios, an integrative spa, a greenhouse, an art studio, a puppy studio and chicken coop. We spoke to Spa Director Maggie Wagner, who took us on a tour of the spa and shared the top treatments, amenities and insider favorites offered at this relaxing getaway.

Puppies live at the resort as part of a socialization program.

Why You’ll Love It: The serenity and the spa menu options. We are Travel + Leisure’s #3 Best Domestic Destination Spa for 2017. We’re Santa Fe’s only destination spa, with 70 tranquil acres of gardens and walking paths surrounding our spring-fed ponds. We offer our guests the opportunity to just relax or delve into a more transformative experience.

Our lodging packages range from one night stays up to our seven-night, all-inclusive Immerse & Thrive package. We have a medical director on staff who meets with guests on a wide variety of topics. We offer experiential activities for all of our lodging guests including yoga, meditation, archery, hatchet throwing, expressive arts, horticulture and culinary classes.

We also have a program with the Assistance Dogs of the West. Their puppies are born and raised here at the resort. Our guests get to help socialize and train the puppies. We offer a sweat lodge on the weekend. We also have a Junior Olympic-sized saltwater pool.

Each Casitas and Garden View room includes Sunrise Springs signature amenities made with local plants and herbs.

Key Features: We have a private men’s and women’s locker rooms, eucalyptus steam room and dry sauna. Locally-made amenities such as shampoo, body wash, body lotion and conditioner.

The enchanting accommodations features local artisan touches and a gas fireplace.

Bonus: Guests can book one of our private Ojito soaking tubs even if they're not staying at the resort.

The outdoor salt water swimming pool is open from April to October.

Insider Tip: You can do as much or as little as you like, but do try some of our activities when staying here, they are amazing!

Sunrise Springs' massages blend ancient wisdom with modern techniques.

Snacks Served: We serve organic apples from the apple trees here at the resort, and a local tea blended up in Taos, New Mexico. Because of our delicious restaurant, The Blue Heron, we noticed that our snacks were not being eaten.

Lounge in one of the many hammocks located throughout the grounds.

Splurge: One of our signature treatments is Ancient Echoes. The oil we use during the treatment was developed by Jen Scott, the owner. The treatment also features an Indian scalp massage, which is lovely.

The spa offers reiki and energy work to balance the body and mind.

Most Unique Treatment: That would be our CBD Massage! We have had great success with it, our guests love it.

Enjoy yoga classes in a serene setting.

Insider Favorite: Currently it’s The CBD Massage, because I just returned from a hiking trip.
