Spa Profile: LeMonds Aveda Salon-Spa at The Wigwam

The Wigwam is a 440-acre oasis retreat located in Phoenix.

LeMonds Aveda Salon-Spa is located at The Wigwam, a 440-acre oasis retreat in Phoenix, Arizona. The new wellness sanctuary offers a comprehensive menu of healing, restorative and rejuvenating hair, nail, facial and body treatments. The two-story, 26,000 square-foot spa has numerous relaxing amenities, such as a co-ed lap pool, sauna and steam room, 15 indoor treatment rooms, a dedicated relaxation room, and more.

“Our newest partnership with The Wigwam was a perfect match from the beginning,” says Spa Director Jessica Kraust. “The resort is a true desert oasis and with its tranquil environment, we were immediately inspired to bring Aveda customizable full-body experiences to relax, rejuvenate and replenish.”

Here, she gives us a sneak peek inside the luxury spa, shares her favorite treatments, insider tips, and more:

The two-story, 26,000 square-foot LeMonds Aveda Salon—Spa has a private, co-ed lap pool.

Why You’ll Love It: Our guests rave about our all-inclusive services—while other salons and spas may charge for additional add-ons, we give guests the opportunity to choose two additional services to enjoy either before or after their appointments.

Additional services include: a stress-relieving hand ritual, neck and scalp massage, hand scrub with aromas, hot towel head wrap, hydrating lip treatment, or sound therapy with a Tibetan singing bowl. All visitors have the opportunity to come early or stay after to relax in our beautiful spaces, including the lap pool, Jacuzzi tubs and relaxation rooms.

Key Features: LeMonds Aveda Salon–Spa at The Wigwam offers an array of complimentary amenities to ensure our guests feel right at home from the moment they check in. Whether visitors are looking to enjoy the lap pool, saunas, steam rooms, Jacuzzi tubs or the relaxation rooms, all are invited to indulge in serenity pre or post-treatments. We also offer day passes and annual passes for those looking to enjoy our spaces at their leisure.

Bonus: Our spa attendants serve complimentary smoothies out by the pool. While we are currently offering the ‘Dr. Smoothie’ Organic Smoothie Juice, we are so excited to begin serving smoothies made from our newly planted herb and vegetable garden in the near future.

The spa has 15 indoor treatment rooms and three couples’ suites.

Insider’s Tip: Of course, I always recommend coming at least 15 minutes before your service time to get situated and tour the amenities. Beyond the spa, I recommend visitors take the time to explore the resort grounds. The Wigwam is an amazing facility with something to fit the interests of all, and its grounds hold an immense amount of history.

Celebrating the centennial anniversary of its organization house—the resort’s first building on property—this year, as well as the 90th anniversary of the resort’s official opening in 2019, The Wigwam was originally established as housing for Goodyear Tire & Rubber executives who oversaw cotton farmers in 1918. Today, the organization house still stands and is an integral part of and inspiration for the rest of the property.

Our ties to the US military also run deep. During WWI when tires were crucial and the United States was in short supply of cotton, Goodyear Tires’ production of cotton assisted with the war efforts. In WWII, The Wigwam established Luke Airfield—a subsequent part of Luke Airforce Base which housed additional military personnel and troops. Today, the resort’s ties to LAFB remain an integral part of its ethos.

Spa Snacks: We offer trail mix, fruit, fruit-infused water and smoothies.

Unique Treatment: The Plant Peel Facial ($150/50-min/$230/80-min). Advancing the science of chemical peels, this professional facial treatment helps re-texturize skin, smooth fine lines, refine the look of pores, and restore radiance. Safe for acne skin conditions, the Perfecting Plant Peel can be performed as a standalone treatment.

The resort also has lawn games and a putting green.

Splurge Treatment: It really depends on what guests are trying to achieve. With this in mind, I have four splurges for each need:

  • Hair–The Botanical Treatment ($30+): This treatment makes your hair feel brand-new. It restores protein and nutrients in the hair that have been lost due to hair coloring and styling. This is a great add-on to a hair or spa service that includes a blow-dry style so you walk out looking fabulous!

  • Nails–Anti-Aging Hand Treatment: We have an exclusive hand mask that brightens, tightens and hydrates your hands. This can be added on to any manicure.

  • Facials–The Plant Peel Facial ($150/50-min; $230/80-min): Aveda’s Plant Peel facial is equivalent to a 30% glycolic peel without the side effects (no sun sensitivity, redness or downtime). This amazing peel heats up on your face while it dissolves dead skin, increases radiance, balances skin tone, and firms.

  • Massage–Chakra Massage ($140/50-min; $220/80-min) This full-body experience is designed to balance the body while providing a relaxing massage.

Insider’s Favorite: I can’t choose one specifically, so I would have to say all the facials. Our facials include a lot of massage rituals, so it feels like you’re getting two services in one!
