Spa Diary: BLANCSPA in Los Cabos

The newly opened Le Blanc Spa Resort Los Cabos.

I recently attended the grand opening of Palace Resorts' second property in Los Cabos: Le Blanc Spa Resort Los Cabos. The all-inclusive, adults-only resort offered much to be enjoyed, from its luxuriously-appointed suites and gourmet restaurants to the award-winning spa, BLANCSPA.

Poolside views.

In addition to featuring the latest in spa technology trends, the 29,000 sq.ft spa has a hydrotherapy area, holt and cold plunge pools, sauna, herbal steam room, chromo therapy, ice room, relaxation lounge, and 25 treatment rooms.

The elegantly decorated spa lounge area.

I headed over to the spa lounge 45 minutes prior to my appointment so that I could enjoy the hydrotherapy journey, which came highly recommended. This health and wellness specialty is part of a traditional Greco-Roman ritual which combines hot and cold contrasts, creating an invigorating and relaxing feel all over the body.

The hydrotherapy journey begins.

BLANCSPA offers a full menu of exotic and invigorating spa treatments, including the signature Pericue Massage, a four-hand massage ritual derived from the history of the region's ancient natives, the Pericue Tribe.

Other services include the signature Diamond Facial, a global anti-aging treatment featuring Natura Bisse products to combat signs of aging.

The hydrotherapy journey includes an ice room, rain shower and steam room.

The hydrotherapy journey is complimentary with any spa treatment, and guests can enjoy it in whatever order they prefer. I opted to let my spa guide lead me through each aspect of the journey.

The heated stone spa beds are relaxing and comfortable.

My hydrotherapy journey began on a heated stone bed, where I lay in my robe for 10 minutes with  a cool towel over my eyes. The spa also offers a variety of snacks to be enjoyed, including hibiscus water, oatmeal cookies, fruit and nuts.

The dry sauna.

Next up was the dry sauna, where I removed my robe and lay down on a towel with cold cucumbers and a towel over my face. Not only are dry saunas good for detoxification, but they also give the heart a gentle workout due to the heat, which dilates the capillaries and improves blood flow!

The ice room.

Afterwards, I was led to the ice room, where I was given a small bowl containing ice and another with cool aloe vera gel. I was instructed to gently rub the ice all over my body and face, then I applied the aloe vera gel and lay down on the cool stone for another 10 minutes.

Spending time in an ice room (or cold sauna) is proven to reduce pain, improve joint and muscle function, as well as blood circulation. The aloe vera gel contains anti-inflammatory properties that help heal and cool the skin, especially sunburns.

The water room.

After my ice room adventure, I spent some time in the steam room, which features ceiling lights that change colors (it reminded of a planetarium!) Then I rinsed off in the rain showers, which feature extra large shower heads so that it feels like you're actually bathing in the rain!

Then I went to the last part of the hydrotherapy journey: the hot tub, hot and cold plunge pools. After alternating between water temperatures, I was off to the relaxation lounge.

The relaxation lounge.

In the relaxation lounge, spagoers can choose between relaxing lounge chairs or covered canopy beds. I chose the latter for a more private relaxation experience. It felt like I was "glamping", and now I want one of these for my own living room!

The Mayan massage begins with a foot ritual.

Finally it was time for my massage! Prior to my treatment, my therapist performed a foot ritual, which consisted of bathing my feet with warm water and hydrating, fragrant body oil.

One of the 25 treatment rooms at BLANCSPA.

I got the 50-minute Mayan Massage, and my therapist used soothing botanical oils while gently working on my knots, which left me feeling rested, connected and relaxed.

The ringing of a ceremonial bell indicates the treatment has finished.

After 50 minutes of bliss, my therapist gently rang a ceremonial bell, announcing that my massage was complete.

The spa also has a full-service beauty salon.

After my spa appointment, I headed over to the beauty salon for a pedicure and blowout, which is conveniently located right next to the spa. In addition to a full-service hair and nail salon, the resort also has a state-of-the-art fitness center, a spinning studio, and a shopping boutique that sells the resort's signature aromatherapy scent, which is present in every hallway and elevator.

The resort's 374 guest suites all come with luxurious bathtubs that open into the rest of the room.

One of my other favorite features at Le Blanc Spa Resort Los Cabos are the oversized bathtubs that come with every room, in addition to spacious rain showers. I made a point to take a tub bath at the end of every night during my stay there!

Guests can enjoy personal butler service, which includes aromatherapy and a drawn bath.

The resort offers personal butler service for all guests to enjoy, providing a range of services from a nightly aromatherapy menu and pillow selection to drawing a bath every morning or evening (or both!)

The suites also feature in-room amenities that include CHI blowdryers, CHI flat irons, and BVLGARI toiletries. Even after a long hydrotherapy journey and rain shower in the spa, I always made sure to end every day in Cabo with an indulgent bath. Talk about a spa visit to remember!
