The YOLU Head Spa Details You Need to Know

YOLU, a best-selling Japanese haircare brand, opened its debut U.S. head spa and blowout bar in Los Angeles on October 6th. The new space is located in the heart of the Mid-City/Beverly Grove area on West 3rd Street in Los Angeles, bringing a sanctuary of calm to this bustling area. The popular Japanese haircare brand is known for signature products including YOLU Calm Night Repair Shampoo, and YOLU Calm Night Repair Treatment.

YOLU Head Spa is inspired by authentic Japanese scalp and haircare practices and reimagines these traditions for modern needs. The destination's mission is to transform passive nighttime routines into intentional rituals of rest and renewal. Head spa services include 45, 60, and 75-minute services. If you have a shaved head or buzz cut, you can opt for a 50-minute service. Add-ons include blow-outs and styling. Visitors can also stop by for salon-only treatments like shampoos and blow drys with the option to add on a "quick head spa" treatment (performed in the salon).
We Tried the 60-Minute Sayo Ritual
We were invited to YOLU to experience the Sayo Ritual. This 60-minute treatment includes massage, hair wash, a waterfall hairbath, and a scalp-serum/leave-in treatment.
Lounge at YOLU Head Spa & Blow Dry Bar.
The treatment started with a consultation where I learned about the ritual and selected my goals for the service. The lounge where this occurs is saturated in a tranquil color palette of midnight blues, indigos, and ultraviolet hues, with a backdrop of moon imagery, setting the tone for what you are about to experience.

Next, I headed to my private treatment room, also a dreamy deep midnight blue setting, where I changed into a special loosely-fitting lounging dress. My service was with head spa specialist Yuga, who gave me an incredible head, shoulder, and décolleté massage with just the right amount of pressure. The hands-on technique at YOLU works with full muscle groups, and Yuga's technique was an art.
Enjoying my waterfall head bath at YOLU Head Spa and Blow Dry Bar.
The shampoo includes a satisfying scalp massage and the temperature was perfect for me. After the hair wash and scalp massage, I experienced a calming waterfall head bath. The whole experience goes by way too fast, and I enjoyed every minute of it.

The final step is a scalp serum and leave-in treatment. . . but if you add-on the blow dry you can extend this scrumptious pampering session and leave with a fabulous blowout.
Japanese tea and snacks at YOLU Head Spa and Blow Dry Bar.
As I was getting my blow dry from Yuga, I snacked on Japanese tea and sweets. The blowout was a great way to finish the treatment, and I left with my hair looking silky and ultra-shiny thanks to all the YOLU hair products.

The YOLU products used during treatments can be purchased to be used in your own bathing rituals – and the packaging is beautiful. Overnight Hair Care Series includes a four-step ritual of shampoo ($35), conditioner ($35), scalp serum ($38), and hair oil ($38).
