Behind the Brand: Hydra Bloom Skincare Products Utilize Natural Botanicals and High-Vibrational Flower Essences
As a celebrity hair and make-up artist for over 20 years, Lucy Baldock-Sacchi met and collaborated with many inspirational people from her first mentor, Fred Segal, and his family to magazine editors and photographers shooting covers for Vogue, Elle, Marie Claire, and others. She also worked with models, actors, and musical artists such as Sound Garden, Johnny Depp, and Gwyneth Paltrow.
“People that are in the creative fields tend to stay friends, and when you're learning about any industry, asking questions helps you achieve your dream,” says Baldock-Sacchi. “I came from a creative musical family in London so I was very used to the creative vibe.”
After spending years living in California, Baldock-Sacchi noticed that the dry climate was affecting her skin, which eventually inspired the idea to create Hydra Bloom—a line of all-natural and organic bath, body, skincare and fragrance products that utilize natural botanicals and flower essences.
We chatted with Baldock-Sacchi, who shared the inspiration behind her skincare line, future plans for the brand, and more.
When was Hydra Bloom founded and what’s the meaning behind the name?
Hydra Bloom is the third brand I've created; it was founded in 2019 and was the result of over two years of market research. Hydra Bloom is all about keeping skin hydrated and glowing with organic and natural products—no matter your age or where you live in the world. I'm originally from London and after living in California for over 25 years where the air is typically warm and dry, I found that staying hydrated can often be a challenge.
As a celebrity hair/makeup artist and yoga aficionado, after working with many other brands and celebrities such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Elle Macpherson, and supermodel Tatjana Patitz, I was always searching for the highest-quality ingredients to use on their often sensitive skin. I was privy to many of their beauty tips as well as introducing them to mine—this was somewhat of an incubator for me. People want simple and clean products that work. Hydra Bloom formulates using organic and natural oils, botanical essential oils, high-vibrational flower essences, and recyclable packaging.
Tell us more about your products and what makes them special.
We have a laboratory in California where my husband and I create all the products along with incredible organic suppliers that we've worked with and vetted over the 20+ years I've been a product entrepreneur. Many companies use only small percentages of organic oils; we formulate using natural and organic oils, essential oils, botanicals, crystals, and flowers in our products.
We additionally infuse uplifting flower essences, resulting in a super high vibrational frequency, which is an added benefit. Hydra Bloom is cruelty-free and we give back to local animal and children's charities. Starting in Spring 2021, we will begin our tree planting partnership to do our part in helping the planet. We created low-impact glass packaging so that they can be reused as flower vases or sage and palo santo holders.
Do you have a hero product? What’s your favorite?
I have so many but two standouts include our Bronze Frangipani Lumiere Body Glow, which is one of my favorites as it delivers a beautiful shimmery glow to the skin. It looks so great on all skin tones. I also love our organic Lavender & Body Oil and Lavender Chillax Roll-On scent because staying relaxed, sleeping well, and operating from a place of balance is so important to me and our clients. I trained with some great teachers as a yoga and meditation teacher—this was to help me deepen my practice and stay balanced.
I use the Lavender Chillax Roll-On to assist in grounding my energy and to feel more relaxed, as being an entrepreneur has its unique challenges. I utilize meditation daily with slow yogic breaths, which helps me make decisions and fine-tunes my intuition and psychic abilities. Everyone has this capability when nurtured and activated.
Where are your products sold?
We sell through our website, as well as various beach and swimwear stores including Everything But Water nationally. We are also sold in many resorts and spas such as Four Seasons, The Scottsdale Phoenician, Planet Beauty stores in California, and Kitson California.
What's next for the brand?
We're working on a line extension of our Beach Waves Collection with new products in the pipeline of new beach and summery clean fragrances, new clean scents in our soy candles, and body mists.
