Natural Fragrance Rose offers the rich aromatics and unique beauty of premium, garden-grown roses designed to last months without water or care, and is a sustainable alternative to chemical-based scented candles and diffusers.
Developed by Peter Persoon, a third-generation Dutch flower cultivator, Natural Fragrance Roses feature his patented technology which replaces the plant’s water cells with bio-based moisturizing creams. The flowers self-hydrate by taking in moisture from the air, keeping them fresh up to 10 times longer than cut roses, and up to three months in one’s home. Requiring no refrigeration or care, each rose is transported and displayed in a glass vase, which cuts over nine times the transport and emissions waste of traditionally manufactured roses.
“We are pleasantly surprised with all the positive feedback from enthusiastic customers,” says Persoon. “Our customers drive, teach, and inspire us to grow and develop new products. We have also noticed that many of our flowers are used in spas and as aromatherapy—this is an incredible industry as it contributes to the calming atmosphere of nature and longevity.”
We chatted with Persoon, who revealed the inspiration behind Natural Fragrance Roses, where the flowers are sourced from, and more.
When was Natural Fragrance Rose founded?
In April 2018, although developing the technology was a process that started in 1997.
What inspired its creation?
As a third-generation Dutch flower cultivator, I discovered that Mother Nature does not produce flowers that are both richly scented and long-lasting. In nature, strong-scented blooms quickly attract pollinators and die shortly thereafter. Commercially grown roses are bred as a more long-lasting solution, but they lose much of their beloved scent in the process. That's why we created a long-lasting, naturally fragranced rose.

How does one care for a Natural Fragrance Rose and how long do they last?

Where do your roses come from?
All of our garden-grown roses are handpicked in Ecuador on the sunny, fertile slopes of the Cotopaxi volcano, fed by the pure melting water of its snowy peak.

Women (and men) love roses, however, commercially-grown roses are bred as a more long-lasting solution these days and have lost much of their beloved scent in the process.
