Celebrity Cruises' Celebrity Eclipse to Undergo Redesign as Part of $500 Million Fleet-Wide Modernization
Celebrity Cruises’ Celebrity Eclipse will soon undergo a top-to-bottom redesign as part of the Celebrity Revolution—the fleet-wide planned $500 million modernization of numerous ships. Recently, Spa & Beauty Today had the opportunity to experience an exclusive ship tour while the Eclipse was docked at San Pedro’s World Cruise Terminal, where the ship was offering several sailings out of San Pedro, including its popular 7-day Coastal Cruise and a 15-day Hawaii sailing.
The first ship in the fleet to undergo the Celebrity Revolution was the Celebrity Equinox. Celebrity Cruises is bringing together more than 500 leading architects, designers, and engineers to reimagine the fleet, which will include redesigned accommodations, exclusive new sanctuaries for Suite Class guests at The Retreat® Lounge and The Retreat® Sundeck, updated restaurants and lounges, new designer boutiques, and more.
During our visit, we had the opportunity to learn more about the brand’s newest culinary offerings and experienced the Le Petit Chef Experience. A complete reinvention of dining, the signature of this culinary experience is custom 3D table animation art that fuses entertainment and Michelin-star dining, giving the term “dinner and a show” an entirely new meaning.
Throughout the course of our meal, tiny animated chefs appeared on our plates and “prepared” various dishes. After the 3D presentation, the waiter brought out the dish—for our particular meal, we enjoyed the Marinated Tomato Salad, Truffled Five Cheese Ravioli, Steak Frites, and Green Tea Matcha Cake for dessert. The unique experience was highly entertaining and enjoyable, and is definitely something that I hope to try again (time to book my next Celebrity cruise)!
Another special culinary offering by Celebrity Cruises is the Chefs Table Experience by Daniel Boulud—an incredible five-course meal designed by Celebrity’s Global Culinary Brand Ambassador, Chef Boulud, complete with a private galley tour, as well as a featured guest chef appearance. The exclusive dining menu features the Michelin-starred, master chef’s soulful cooking, which is deeply rooted in French cuisine, with delicious wine pairings for each course.
Celebrity Cruises has also partnered with the American Ballet Theatre, which will allow guests the opportunity to enjoy exclusive American Ballet Theatre guest performances on select ships, join the dancers for intimate seminars, ballet barre classes, and embark on unforgettable excursions to American Ballet Theatre performances in some of the most dynamic ports of call. The new experiences with American Ballet Theatre and Chef Boulud will roll out across the fleet in 2019, starting with Celebrity Summit, then Celebrity Equinox and Celebrity Millennium.
Since Celebrity’s first sailing in 1990, the cruise line has been recognized as an industry leader and continues to push luxury travel forward by redefining what luxurious travel can be. Celebrity Cruises is consistently offering new experiences and adding luxurious new ships to its line, and continues to add to its fleet significantly nearly every year. Celebrity Apex, the second Edge class ship, is scheduled for delivery in Spring 2020, and the third and fourth Edge Class ships in Fall 2021 and Fall 2022,
