I recently had the immense honor and pleasure of joining Jane Wurwand, Founder and Chief Visionary of Dermalogica, along with the rest of her team, at a special innovation event on Dec. 16 at Dermalogica’s global headquarters in Carson, California to celebrate the unveiling of the brand’s new, expanded product lab.

Dermalogica Co-Founder Jane Wurwand to Receive 2020 Legacy Award

Dermalogica CEO Aurelian Lis and Dr. Angela Murphy, VP of Technology and Innovation, were at the event for the celebratory ribbon cutting, along with Dermalogica’s network of staff, professional skin therapists, and in-house chemists and specialists. The new product lab will help Dermalogica continue its commitment to spectacular innovations and product formulations that help propel professional skin therapists forward in their trade.

It was wonderful meeting everyone involved behind the brand—as a leader in innovation, Dermalogica created 17 products in the last year alone—so everyone at the company plays an important role across all sectors of product development, which include developing and perfecting product formulas, using quality control to ensure product stability and packaging compatibility, managing clinical trials, regulatory affairs, and science education for Dermalogica’s training curriculum.

In addition to receiving a tour of the new expanded product lab, we also got a sneak peek at Dermalogica’s biggest launch of 2020: BioLumin-C Eye Serum, which came out earlier this month. This amazing supercharged vitamin C eye serum works to outsmart visible premature skin aging caused by daily eye movements and environmental stress.

The perfect companion to Dermalogica’s BioLumin-C Serum, it delivers a highly-bioavailable vitamin C complex that dramatically brightens and visibly firms the eye area. It’s truly an amazing product and made our January Editors’ Picks!

Other highlights from the event included a presentation of the new product and demonstration of its efficacy, a raffle drawing with prizes, and a VR video session. It was a wonderful and inspiring afternoon spent with one of my favorite brands, as Dermalogica and I go way back to the days when I worked as a trade editor in the professional hair industry.

In 2015 when I was the West Coast Editor for American Salon Magazine, I attended Dermalogica Congress Las Vegas, which will always have a special place in my heart, as I made lifelong friendships at the conference and connected with the brand on a deeper level. Being able to witness firsthand the passion that Dermalogica’s skin therapists have for the brand, along its dedication to innovation, sharing new ideas, and making great strides in the skincare industry has made me a continued fan and supporter of this amazing company. I can’t wait to see what else Dermalogica has in-store for the rest of 2020 and beyond!
