Rodney is a U.S. Surfing Champion, while Carmen is a longtime stylist and salon owner. The couple combined forces and expertise to provide the unique experience of adventure and relaxation with their original salon/spa/surf school concept. You’ll be riding the waves in a day, and leave looking fabulous and feeling relaxed.

The services offered at Zada Spa and Salon are enjoyed by tourists and locals alike. The location is two blocks from the beach, offers free parking, and features packages that include a balance of surfing and spa for a zen-meets-hang-ten experience.
Surfing instructor Rodney Roller is a two-time U.S. surfing championship winner.
Rodney tells us that he started surfing in 1976 up until 1989 when he lost his leg in an accident: “In 1989 as an amputee I relearned to surf, and I won the U.S. championship in 2004 and 2015.” His inspiring journey didn’t stop with him winning the championships, he also founded “Operation Surf,” a program he developed for wounded soldiers recovering at Brooke Army Medical Center.
Operation Surf embraced the healing powers of the ocean and offered world-class surfing instruction to the participants. Today, Rodney can be found sharing his surfing knowledge with Zada’s surf students.

The surf lessons at Zada Salon, Spa & Surf are two-hours long and include a surfboard, wetsuit, instruction on water safety, managing your board, and more. Students will learn how to properly get on their feet to maintain balance, how to catch their own waves, and how to start making turns on the board.
Rodney explains that the goal is to build confidence in students by advancing them from the "1st grade" level to the "8th grade" level in each class. “My tips for beginners are to learn to paddle as much as possible to catch more waves and always have fun,” he says.

Carmen, who heads up the salon and spa side of the business, has been professionally styling hair since she received her license at 16. She is passionate about being an industry and community leader. “My signature techniques range from listening at the initial consultation and following through with my expertise in Keratin Complex smoothing treatments, to razor cutting, shear cutting, and color techniques,” she shares.
The salon and spa features hair care products by Eleven Australia and skin care products by IMAGE Skincare. Carmen’s beauty secrets? “Self-care to include inside and out. Water for hydration, work out, eat well, and leave ‘the pretties’ on the outside for us professionals.”
