From Gym to Glam: Tips to Take You From Sweaty to Ready
The new year means resolutions, as well as new health and wellness goals. I don’t know about you, but I’ve always struggled with balancing my gym goals with my glam goals. I love sweaty workouts, but hate washing my hair on the daily. It’s become an issue. I know, First World problems.
Over the years I’ve perfected the art of working out, getting ready at the gym, and being on my way in a minimal amount of time. I couldn’t do it without my gym bag and some key beauty must-haves:
Lululemon Gym Bag
Of course you don’t need an expensive gym bag, but I love mine from Lululemon. I’ve had it for YEARS. It’s easy to clean and has a lot of compartments for “sweaty unmentionables.” I’m an advocate for splurging on items that you use often and that will last forever. They have lots of different options to fit your preferences on their website. Money saving tip: Check out your local TJ Maxx or Marshalls. They have tons of gym bags at affordable prices!
GoodWipes Deodorizing Wipes ($6.99)
These full body wipes are biodegradable, and are made with tea tree oil and aloe vera. They smell like lavender, are alcohol-free and hypoallergenic. You can use them after a sweaty workout, while traveling, or anytime you want to freshen up and smell amazing. They are available online (www.goodwipes.com) or on Amazon.
Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes ($7.99)
My first tip: never workout with makeup. These wipes are my favorite for removing makeup, sweat, dirt and oil. I’ve tried a lot of makeup removing wipes in my day, and these are my favorite. They remove everything, including waterproof mascara.
They are available on neutrogena.com or at your local drug store.
Native Coconut and Vanilla Deodorant ($12)
I’ll be the first to admit - I’m a super sweaty person. I’ve always been reluctant to use or try natural deodorants. There’s nothing worse than smelling bad. If you’re looking to make the switch, give Native a try. Coconut Vanilla is my favorite scent. They also have a version for sensitive skin. You can buy nativecos.com, or at Target.
I love this curling iron for travel and the gym. It’s not a replacement for my everyday, beloved hot tools iron. However, in a pinch and on the go, this little guy does the trick. You can charge it in your car (it comes with a car charger!) and and a heat resistant travel bag so you can pack it back up in your bag without burning a hole in anything. Note: Don’t drive and curl your hair. Obviously. You can get CHI cordless tools online here or here.
Dove Dry Shampoo ($5)
Like I said, I hate washing my hair. Mostly because it takes forever to wash and style. Dry shampoo is my jam. This one by Dove is one of my favorite drugstore options. It absorbs sweat and oil, adds fullness and volume, and smells amazing. Of course, everyone has different hair and preferences, so find the one that works for you. At $5, it’s worth a try. A little dry shampoo, a messy bun, and you’re good to go.
Contigo Water Bottles ($10 - $15)
I love the Contigo brand because I’m a klutz, and their water bottles are spill-proof. They can roll around your car, and you don’t have to worry about making a mess. They come in metal or plastic, and all different shapes, sizes and colors. Plus, you’re saving the environment by using a refillable bottle. #winning
