The glorious beauty of the Amalfi Coast is legendary, attracting visitors and admirers for centuries. Lured by its soaring cliffs with villages built into the engraved mountainside, the road that leads from Sorrento to cities such as Positano and Ravello is nothing short of miraculous.
At the road’s northern terminus, the historic town of Sorrento has a special place in the heart of travelers since the 18th century, when aristocrats and artists flocked to its dramatic shoreline. Enchanting piazzas, and magnanimous hospitality.
The Best Spas on the Amalfi Coast
Within easy access to the entire Amalfi Coast, Naples, and Pompeii, Sorrento is the ideal location for exploration of the Campania region while savoring the city’s special charm, history, shopping, and culinary delights, and Hotel Mediterraneo Sorrento is the ideal place to experience Sorrento at its finest.
What began over 100 years ago as the residence of Antoniettta Lauro, aka Nonna Etta, who opened her doors to civil war refugees in 1912, is now a Michelin recognized, luxury boutique hotel overlooking the Bay of Sorrento.

Now managed by Nonna Etta’s grand and great-grandsons, the tradition of Sorrentine hospitality and warmth are felt the moment you enter the white, art-nouveau hotel.
The stylish, yet relaxed interiors were designed by the architecture studio THDP, led by Manuela Mannino, winner of the 2021 LIV Hospitality Design Award. Utilizing colors and materials typical of the region, the result is effortlessly chic and welcoming.
Gastronomy is central to life in the Amalfi region, and the Hotel Mediterraneo excels at preserving Italian culinary tradition, while exploring new flavors at its three exceptional restaurants.
For creative cocktails and globally-inspired aperitifs, Oltremare Lounge Bar is a sumptuously beautiful space that evokes a by-gone era, while the rooftop Vista Sky Bar, with its al fresco seating and nightly entertainment, is the go-to spot for before dinner cocktails and late night soirées.

Lepietre Cozy Spa is the hotel’s secret subterranean hideaway of wellness and renewal. Built within the ancient tuff foundations, architect Luigi Alfonso has created a sacred retreat of stone walls, elaborate wood carvings, and glowing gold ornamentation.
The ceiling of illuminating stars casts a magical glow over the relaxation area composed of a hot tub, Turkish bath, steam sauna, Himalayan salt room, and emotional showers. The two treatment rooms are warm and intimate, like a cozy embrace in the flickering candlelight.
We spoke with Spa Manager Delia Cafiero to learn more about the spa’s philosophy, amenities, treatments to try, and more.

Key Features: Hidden within the ancient tuff foundations, Lepietre Cozy Spa is a true oasis of relaxation, illuminated by natural light during the day and a starry sky in the evening.
The name is inspired by the tuff stones, of volcanic origin, with which the building was constructed in 1912 and we have decided to leave them exposed as a tribute to its original form.
At Lepietre Cozy Spa you can unwind in our exclusive private wellness path within the wet area: emotional shower, sauna, Turkish bath, jacuzzi, salt room and relaxation area. With our new signature treatments, we have created a multisensory journey through the fragrances of our land.
For example, Lepietre Ritual, which takes its name from the spa, is a refined reinterpretation of the classic hot stones. This unique treatment features stones from our sea and herbal compresses filled with selected regional botanicals offering both deep relaxation and muscle release through the warmth and natural aromas.
Amenities include an outdoor swimming pool surrounded by lush gardens. [Photo courtesy of Hotel Mediterraneo Sorrento]
Insider Tips: Breathe. It may sound simple, but it is essential. Stop, take a deep breath, release tension and thoughts. The body needs to be “prepared” to receive treatment. I always recommend arriving a few minutes early to gradually enter a calm atmosphere.
Stay hydrated before and after the treatment, avoid heavy meals, but above all, communicate openly with the therapist.
Every person is unique and our therapists are trained to adapt the treatment to your body’s real-time needs. Never hesitate to express preferences or concerns.

Snacks and Refreshments: At Lepietre Cozy Spa, guests may choose between still or sparkling water, water infused with lemon and orange, or a selection of fine teas and herbal infusion. Throughout the wellness experience, a fresh seasonal fruit cut and a mix of dried fruits are offered.

Splurge Treatment: The crown jewel treatment offered in our Spa is Le Rituel Mille Sublime Jeunesse by Maria Galland. This exceptional facial ritual, enriched with luxurious ingredients such as 24k gold and white truffle, provides the ultimate anti-aging effect, leaving the skin radiant and regenerated.

Customer Favorites: The most beloved treatment among our guests is the Romance Ritual, our signature couple’s experience. It begins with a private wellness path (emotional shower, Turkish bath, sauna, jacuzzi and relaxation area) and concludes with a romantic massage in the evocative salt wall room.
During your time in the wet area, a refined selection of finger foods, freshly prepared by our Chef, will be served, accompanied with refreshing fruit and a bottle of Metodo Classico rosé sparkling wine, produced in Campania.
Another highly appreciated treatment is the D-Tox Face & Body Aroma Ritual. A pury D-Tox experience accompanied by citrus aromatherapy. After a smoothing body and face scrub, the treatment is completed with a nourishing full-body massage using essential oils.

Featured Products: We have two main brands. Luce di Sorrento, a natural and vegan brand that combines high-quality cosmetics with the precious uniqueness of the sources of youth found in our territory, such as Sorrento lemon essential oil and extra virgin olive oil.
The other is Maria Galland, an international luxury brand with an innovative selection of lines and products that can be customized for each facial treatment.
