Mandarin Oriental Invites Guests To Celebrate Global Wellness Day with a Focus on Intelligent Movement
This year the spas at Mandarin Oriental will celebrate Global Wellness Day by inviting guests to join them for their “Intelligent Movement” program. This new wellness initiative bridges the gap between the hotel group’s spas and fitness centers.
Mandarin Oriental spas around the world will host a variety of complimentary Intelligent Movement-themed activities on June 11. Intelligent Movement looks to support guests whose posture and movement is compromised by a tech-driven lifestyle. This lifestyle can lead to issues including head-forward posture, internally rotated shoulders, anterior pelvic tilt, and tight hamstrings.
As part of the Intelligent Movement Initiative, Mandarin Oriental has partnered with Hyperice, a wellness technology company that provides therapeutic massage tools used by massage therapists and fitness trainers.
“Over the past few years and with the influx of technology we see many of our guests coming into our spas and fitness centers with the same general issues of posture and lack of mobility,” said Andrea Lomas-Gong, who oversees global spa and wellness operations. “Most of our guests have a head forward posture from looking down at screens, internally rotated shoulders from too much keyboard use, tight hips and lower back pain from too much sitting. Intelligent Movement addresses these issues in a comprehensive yet personalized approach.”
How Mandarin Oriental Hotels Will Celebrate Global Wellness Day:
Mandarin Oriental, Miami will offer guests and fans of MO a complimentary wellness experience at the hotel’s beach. The experience will start with a relaxing 45-minute Open Vinyasa Flow yoga class to stretch and elongate the muscles and increase mobility in the body. The class will finish with a soothing Theragun Massage to assist with muscle tension and relaxation.
Mandarin Oriental, Boston will host a group run along the Charles River Esplanade, as well as an Intelligent Movement: Postural Therapy Class. Expert Matthew Morin will lead guided stretching, movements and yoga sequences for postural therapy. Guests can breathe in the fresh air in this outdoor class hosted in the Garden at Mandarin Oriental. Complimentary smoothies will be provided following the class.
Mandarin Oriental, Washington D.C. will be offering health and recovery activities from fitness partner Therabody and the launch of the Intelligent Movement Treatment at the spa. Offering a morning of wellness-themed activities provided by Therabody, guests are invited to celebrate with complimentary experiences from 9:00a.m. to 11:00a.m.
Mandarin Oriental, New York together with Natura Bisse, will host an online masterclass. Aimed to add positivity, wellness and movement into our lives, the class will focus on the body’s largest organ—our skin—and how we can make a positive change as our skin evolves through changing environments and seasons.
