Recently, Langham Hospitality Group opened Langham Place, Chengsha—its 13th hotel in China and the 25th property in the group’s growing portfolio. The capital of Hunan province, Changsha is situated at the heart of the transportation hub on the Yangtze River Economic Belt, and plays a vital role in commerce, manufacturing, transportation, and innovation in the region.

Located within Da Wang Shan Resort, a world-class tourist destination southwest of Changsha, the 295-room hotel was designed by renowned international architect Wolf D. Prix of Coop Himmelblau, the pioneer of contemporary architecture in exploration and deconstructivism.

Surrounded by striking natural landscapes such as Xiang River and Baxi Island, Da Wang Shan Resort offers guests access to multiple entertainment and amusement parks that include one of the world’s largest indoor ski slopes, Snow World, The Deep Pit Ice, and a water park featuring a 60-meter high waterfall.  Connected to Snow World via a plaza, the iconic hotel tower is specially designed with a highly economical system providing state-of-the-art sun shading and natural ventilation.

“We are very proud to introduce Langham Place, Changsha to the city and manage this new landmark hotel within this dynamic entertainment complex,” says Stefan Leser, Chief Executive Officer of Langham Hospitality Group. “The arrival of our brand and the opening of this stunning hotel will further enhance the guest’s experiences at Dawang Mountain Resort and this historically rich city of Changsha.”

The hotel rooms and suites are furnished in a warm, neutral colour palette and French windows provide 180-degree views of the rivers and lakes surrounding the resort. The hotel offers three different dining concepts to suit all discerning palates:

  • The Place: A vibrant all-day dining restaurant, offering a widespread buffet selection and an à la carte menu featuring international cuisines.

  • Ming Court: Inspired by its Michelin-starred Cantonese restaurant counterparts in Hong Kong and Shanghai, this elegant restaurant will present diners with a fine-dining experience, featuring the freshest seasonal ingredients.

  • Peak: A bar located at the highest level of the hotel—ideal for pre-dinner drinks, after-hours cocktails or a gathering with friends—offers a panoramic view of the Xiangjiang Happy City and Changsha’s city skyline.

English afternoon tea—a tradition that started at The Langham, London in 1865—will be served to guests at The Salon. Guests may indulge in a bespoke version of the afternoon tea experience, where specialty teas are served, accompanied by delicate savory and sweet delicacies created by the talented pastry team.

The hotel also features more than 2,000 square meters of conference and event space, including the Grand and Yuelu Ballrooms. A fully-equipped fitness center and indoor swimming pool are also available for the health and fitness needs of guests. The award-winning Chuan Spa focuses on holistic treatments integrating the principles of traditional Chinese medicine.
