Astronauts, submarine crews, and top athletes swear by Cellgym, an altitude-training system that helps improve Hypoxia—which is when the body or a region of the body is deprived of adequate oxygen supply at the tissue level. And now, guests of Palace Spa at Gstaad Palace in the Swiss Bernese Alps have exclusive access to this training system to enhance their experiences when dealing with altitude sickness in the high mountains.

For its new partnership, the world-renowned hotel has installed one system of Cellgym CellAir Gecko, which is the most modern system and allows a high flexibility paired with an appealing design. Palace Spa offers 20-minute training sessions, where guests can sit or lie down while inhaling air through a comfortable breathing mask with different oxygen concentrations. The oxygen intervals are individually adjusted and treatment session lasts between 20 to 40 minutes. It is recommended to receive anywhere from 5 to 15 treatments within 1 to 3 weeks.

To identify individual parameters for use, guests are asked questions including their age, health condition, current medications, their level of fitness, and various other questions. The Spa Team at Gstaad Palace has been specially trained to answer these questions by the head of Cellgym's scientific academy.

Hypoxia was studied very thoroughly in the early 1960s, mainly in Russia. It was discovered very early that the Cellgym training system offers tremendous benefits in military and manned space travel. It was researched that the stress resistance of the cells in the human body is significantly increased. Thus, it was the first profit made available to the Russian military and space travel to the present day.
