SE Spa at Grand Velas Makes Forbes Travel Guide's List of World's Most Luxurious Spas
Forbes Travel Guide has named SE Spa at Grand Velas Riviera Maya and Riviera Nayarit among 30 of the world’s most luxurious spas. In order to receive this honor, properties much be top performers in the specific standards that reflect detailed attention to the level of luxurious choices and conveniences provided to guests. In order to assess the winners, incognito inspectors stay at the properties and evaluate them on up to 900 standards.
The two-level SE Spa at Grand Velas Riviera Maya was inspired by the jungle and natural water pools of the Yucatan Peninsula, and features separate 40,000 square-foot water lounges for men and women with custom-designed amenities that include a clay room, ice room, experiences showers and a central infinity pool. The spa’s signature treatments incorporate ingredients that are traditional in Mayan culture, such as coffee, cocoa, corncobs, vanilla, organic mud and honey.
Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit’s SE Spa includes a palapa-style entrance, furniture from Bali and a large marble wall with cascading water. The spa experience begins with the Hydrotherapy Ritual, which includes a revitalizing shower, herbal steam and sauna, a dip in the two-temperature lagoon, and a multi-jet Swiss shower.
The spa also has 20 treatment rooms, offers more than 30 different spa treatments, and services are grouped into seven ceremonies, including Huichol, Water, Wind, Earth, Fire, Diamond and Beauty. Many of the treatments feature organic elements such as coffee and chocolate, candle wax and sea shells, deep river stones and volcanic glass, tequila cream, aromatherapy oils and other ingredients.
