Spa Review: We Tried the GEMCLINICAL Facial by KNESKO SKIN at The Spa at Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills
When I learned that The Spa at Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills recently added GEMCLINICAL Facials by KNESKO SKIN to its menu, I knew that I had to try one out for myself. I’ve been a big fan of the renowned skincare brand for years, which is known for its facial tools and serum-infused collagen gel masks that are infused with precious gemstones and minerals to rejuvenate skin while activating the body’s different chakras.
The Spa at Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills Debuts New GEMCLINICAL Facials by KNESKO
Not only do the new facial treatments help to address visible signs of aging such as wrinkles and fine lines, dryness, puffiness and uneven skin tone, but they provide the additional benefit of rebalancing the body’s various chakras. They also incorporate KNESKO SKIN products that are charged with healing reiki energy by the brand’s founder Lejla Cas, who is also a certified reiki master.
For those not familiar with chakras, they represent our body’s energy centers that regulate its various processes such as organ function and the immune system. There are seven main chakras located throughout the body from the base of the spine to the crown of the head, and a blocked chakra can prevent energy from flowing and cause various physical and emotional imbalances in the body.

The spa is offering five signature GEMCLINICAL facials designed with different intentions of intuition so that guests can choose the best treatment option for their individual needs. Each facial includes one of KNESKO SKIN’s cult-favorite collagen face masks that are crafted using the brand’s proprietary GEMCLINICAL Technology, along with a massage using a pair of KNESKO’s reiki-charged facial rollers.

In addition to inviting positive intentions and promoting self-love, the facials also help put guests in a state of total relaxation and well-being while they enjoy a unique and holistic approach to skin care and self care. It had been almost two months since my last facial and my skin was in dire need of a refresh. We were also in the midst of a gloomy, rain-filled week so I was looking forward to a cozy spa day at Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills to nourish my skin and soul.

There are five signature GEMCLINICAL facials that guests can choose from depending on their specific needs and they address visible signs of aging with the added benefit of rebalancing chakra energies throughout the body.
KNESKO treatments are all natural, cruelty-free, paraben-free, biodegradable, hypoallergenic, opthalmologist-approved and dermatologist-approved.
I checked in at the spa’s reception desk, which is located within a spacious retail boutique that carries everything from skincare brands and self-care products to clothing and branded Four Seasons items (my favorite!) There is also an entire wall dedicated to KNESKO SKIN products including their revolutionary collagen face masks and their new serums that are inspired by the masks and target a range of skincare issues.
After checking in, I was taken into the women’s private changing facilities, which include individual lockers, sauna/steam rooms, showers, and a central vanity table that is stocked with various toiletries, hair tools and other items for guests to use.
For spa guests that are getting a facial, it is recommended to do the sauna/steam prior to the treatment and not after. When you steam your face, it softens skin and opens the pores to allow products and skincare to absorb better. After a facial, all of your products have been applied and sealed into skin, so the last thing you want to do is open your pores again—both to prevent further irritation since skin is more sensitive after a facial and to prevent dirt and other impurities from getting in.
I changed into a comfortable robe and slippers that were provided in my locker before making my way to the relaxation lounge, which is located next door to the women’s changing room.
The relaxation lounge has a long row of comfortable seats located along the wall. They come with side tables and decorative partitions between them that allow for privacy or socializing, depending on guests’ preference. Towards the back of the lounge there are several seats located next to one another without dividers, which are ideal for guests that have come to enjoy a spa day with others.
Reading material is also available and at the entrance to the relaxation lounge there is a snack table with fresh infused water and a selection of healthy bites to nibble on. I enjoyed snacking on a handful of raw almonds, dried cranberries and semi-sweet chocolate while lounging in my chair until my esthetician came to greet me.
As it turned out, my esthetician was visiting from Four Seasons Hotel Nashville for the next week while they were undergoing some spa renovations. She’s been with Four Seasons for over two decades and previously worked in the spa at Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village for many years before relocating to Nashville last year, so she’s been with the company for a long time.
After I slipped under the covers of the heated treatment bed (which felt extra cozy on this rainy day), she examined my skin and asked what my goals were for the treatment. I told her that my main issues were dryness (especially coming out of winter), slight redness, and I wanted my skin to glow. She said that based on my skin’s needs, today she would be performing the Nanogold facial by KNESKO to enhance my skin’s ability to regenerate, hydrate and soothe redness.
The KNESKO GEMCLINICAL Facial is customized according to the needs of each guest and their skin, and they offer five different options depending on each client. Aside from Nanogold, they also offer Diamond (brightens, illuminates and evens skin tone), Rose Quartz (protects and defends skin against damaging effects of daily pollutants), Black Pearl (detoxifies, retexturizes and renews skin), and Amethyst (hydrates, nourishes and restores).
In addition to KNESKO SKIN products and tools, the facial also incorporates various skincare products from iS Clinical, a line of clean and multitasking skincare products that are especially great for sensitive skin; as well as Ayuna, a collection of 100% all natural, non-toxic and sensory eco-luxury products.
She started out by performing a double cleanse on my face—first with iS Clinical Cleansing Complex, then she followed with iS Clinical Warming Honey Cleanser, which felt super hydrating and nourishing on my parched skin.
Next it was time to exfoliate my skin to help remove dead cells so that the products she applied would penetrate more deeply. She used Ayuna Essence High Protein Cream-in-Oil Peel, a soft and non-irritating exfoliator that awakens dull skin with a protein peel based in alpha amino acids, rejuvenates skin’s appearance with a gentle polish, and leaves skin soft to the touch with an oleo-essence serum.
She followed up with steam to open my pores so that she could perform extractions, then she applied iS Clinical Hydra-Intensive Cooling Masque to my skin to help soothe and calm it. She also performed a relaxing facial massage to help the product further absorb and to improve circulation—it felt so relaxing that I could have fallen asleep on the treatment table (she told me that many of her clients fall asleep during this part of the facial!)
After the cooling masque, it was time for the KNESKO Nanogold Repair Collagen Face Mask, which felt extremely hydrating and luxurious as she draped it across my face so that my skin could soak up the powerful ingredients which include 24k colloidal gold, marine collagen, elastin, hyaluronic acid, aloe extract, vitamin E, niacinamide, and Damask rose.
The gold in the mask helps by boosting circulation, repairs sun damage, minimizes the appearance of wrinkles, improves tone and lifts skin. Together with all of the other ingredients combined, the mask offers anti-inflammatory and de-puffing properties, in addition to hydrating, firming and repairing skin. My esthetician also told me that the Nanogold mask would help activate my third chakra, which is located just above the navel and is where power and self-confidence manifests.
While I was absorbing all of the ingredients from the mask, she used KNESKO’s Rose Quartz Gemstone Roller on top of the mask to help maximize product absorption, promote lymphatic drainage, and depuff. It felt incredibly soothing and relaxing, and to finish it off she also massaged my hands, arms, shoulders and neck, which left me in a blissful state.
After removing my mask, she generously applied a moisturizing cream from Ayuna followed by iS Clinical Moisturizing Complex for a double dose of hydration. She sealed everything in with multiple spritzes of iS Clinical Copper Firming Mist across my face and applied a moisturizing lip balm to hydrate my lips, which concluded my service.
All GEMCLINICAL Facials come with a special gift at the end: a complimentary 10ml bottle of one of KNESKO’s serums to take home to help maintain guests’ results at home in-between facials. KNESKO has five different serums to match the collagen masks, so I was given a bottle of the Nanogold Repair Serum which includes colloidal gold among its ingredients to keep my skin healthy and hydrated at home.
After my incredible facial, my skin felt hydrated and plump, and I was glowing afterwards! Once I changed back into my clothes, I stopped by the hotel’s swimming pool, which is located past a set of glass doors just past the spa’s reception area.
Despite the rain and gray clouds that loomed above, I was in a perfectly content and relaxed state of mind. My visit to the spa and facial was exactly what I needed on this cold and gloomy rainy day—and my skin was thanking me for it!
