The very first Aman Resort, Amanpuri (which means “place of peace” in Sanskrit) was built in 1987 in Phuket, Thailand. Located on the island’s west coast, it is situated on a coconut grove and overlooks the Andaman Sea. It was designed by American architect Ed Tuttle, who was inspired by traditional Thai temple architecture—particularly the ancient Thai capital of Ayutthaya.

Unique Treatment: Amanpuri Awakening is the most unique treatment offered. It is designed to imbue a deep sense of place as well as to relax and rejuvenate; this journey is inspired by Thai culture and its ancient wellness traditions. It begins with an aromatic body exfoliation using our radiant glow body polish made from ground Thai herbs, spices and extra virgin coconut oil. Then it’s followed by a guest’s choice from the ‘Nuad Pan Thai’ menu for a classical Thai massage experience. Guests can make it aromatic with herbal compresses, or a dry massage with deep stretching or pressure point stimulation and conclude with a personalized facial that leaves your skin glowing.
