The Watergate Hotel is a luxurious urban resort located along the banks of the Potomac River in Washington, DC. Designed by Italian architect Luigi Moretti, the property’s flowing avant-garde architecture emulates the mighty Potomac, while the stunning interior was decorated by designer and artist, Ron Arad. The staff’s retro-chic uniforms, which were created by Mad Men costume designer Janie Bryant, complement the hotel’s modern feel.

Guests seeking a relaxing experience enjoy spending time at Argentta Spa—the property’s modern spa and wellness center. Inspired by the Italian word for “silver,” the spa’s goal is to inspire and energize. It also offers a variety of special spa packages, such as an “After-Hours by the Pool” experience for couples, which includes a couple’s massage, private champagne, and assorted macaroons by the pool.

A membership to The Watergate Hotel is also available, offering an array of benefits that range from complimentary valet parking and personal training sessions to special discounts on spa services, retail restaurants, bars, and private dining. We spoke with Stacy Close, Spa Manager at Argentta Spa, who provided details about the spa’s amenities, treatments to try, insider tips, and more:

Insider’s Tip: I recommend coming early before your appointment to enjoy a soak in the jacuzzi before a deep tissue massage, or relax in the sauna to truly enhance the experience and get you feeling relaxed.

Insider’s Favorite: It’s hard to pick just one, but I do love the Tangle Me Up Wrap. It’s a very unique body treatment that uses seaweed in a completely different way. Seaweed is wrapped around your body to pull toxins and reduce bloating and inflammation, and is excellent in conjunction with a weight loss program.
