Spa Profile: Ascent Spa at Tenaya Lodge
Tenaya Lodge is an AAA Four-Diamond rated luxury mountain resort located in the heart of the Sierra Nevada mountain range and just two miles from the south entrance to Yosemite National Park. The Lodge offers spectacular views of the surrounding Sierra, on-site recreation activities, as well as five restaurants.
The LEED Silver Certified Ascent Spa at Tenaya Lodge melds the healing powers of local flora with indulgent treatments that relax, rejuvenate, and top off the adventure of a lifetime. Ascent Spa’s 10,000 square feet of facilities evoke peace, and inspire relaxation and overall health. We chatted with Spa Manager Stacy Duncan to learn more about this sustainable mountain spa:
Why You’ll Love It: The forested mountain setting not only inspires outdoor adventure, but also provides a special alpine serenity and feeling of getting away from it all. Ascent Spa draws inspiration from the beauty and tranquility of the surrounding area, while celebrating and preserving its natural resources.
Key Features: The 10,000 square-foot, Double LEED-certified Ascent Spa creates bliss with 12 treatment rooms for massages, facials, body treatments, and nail services, all of which are intended to nourish, heal, relax, and protect. Guests can also take advantage of dry saunas and steam rooms, as well as a state-of-the art gym featuring strength training equipment and 11 cardio stations. Outdoor yoga classes are offered during the summer months.
Insider’s Tip: Use of the steam room, sauna, and relaxation lounge is complimentary for all guests. The summertime outdoor yoga is a special experience! And at various times of year, the spa hosts paint and wine evenings that are led by a local artist and naturalist.
Spa Snacks: Granola and dried fruit are complimentary, along with an array of infused waters, coffee, and teas. We also have a spa food menu that has healthy options available to order while you enjoy one of our relaxation rooms.
Splurge Treatment: Our signature Whole Body Anti-Aging Corrective Treatment is the ultimate in pampering after a long day of exploring. The body treatment begins with an herbal foot soak, then guests enjoy a fruit-infused, anti-aging sugar scrub and wrap that features aromas of coconut, pomegranate, and mango. The wrap tightens and firm from head-to-toe with exotic, hydrating oils and the quadruple benefit of anti-aging ingredients with a natural retinol alternative: Swiss green apple stem cells, plant-derived hyaluronic acid, and an antioxidant booster to visibly improve skin tone and texture for a full-body age repair. This signature body treatment also includes choice of two enhancements—Hand Scrub, Foot Scrub or Peppermint Scalp Massage. The entire experience concludes with a chef-made cheese and fruit plate accompanied by a glass of champagne. (60 minutes, $200)
Insider’s Favorite: Thai Yoga Massage is a new offering for our spa. This ancient massage technique is performed in comfortable clothes on a futon mat. Through a combination of compressions, assisted gentle yoga stretches, and pressure on specific points, this traditional Thai massage releases tight joints, increases range of motion, reduces stress, and provides for a free flow of energy in the body. (90 Minutes, $185)
Featured Brands: We are proud to carry Eminence Organic Skin Care, Sacred Earth Botanicals, vegan massage oil and lotion, and Pure Fiji. Soon we will also feature Butter London 8-free nail polish and Tara Aromatherapy.
For the spa retail area, we try to source products that are environmentally-friendly and that align with Tenaya’s sustainability mission. Currently in the spa retail area we feature co-branded Yosemite T-shirts from United by Blue (they remove a pound of trash in oceans and water ways for every product sold), prAna yogawear (sustainable, recycled, organic, free trade), Olivina Men body products, and Paddywax candles.
