Changes Salon & Day Spa in Walnut Creek, California has been voted “The Best of the East Bay” more than 50 times, and provides guests with a unique venue to relax, de-stress, and look beautiful. It is located in a charming part of town and is approximately 16 miles east of the city of Oakland. In addition to the spa, which offers a wide range of wellness therapies including massage and medi-treatments, Changes also has a full-service hair salon where guests can receive hair, makeup, and other beauty services.

We talked to Lexie Choate-Bewley—the salon and spa’s Lead Esthetician, Makeup Artist, and Department Educator, who shared treatments to try, insider tips, favorite amenities, and more:

Why You’ll Love It: There are a couple of things that we hear over and over from our guests. They love that we are a one-stop shop for all their beauty and wellness services, and home care. They also appreciate that we have been part of the Walnut Creek community for over 30 years.

Key Features: 18 hair stations, 11 treatment rooms, a semi-private pedicure room with 16-foot water wall, women's and men’s locker rooms with shower facilities, steam rooms, a relaxing Aqua Terra Room, and a garden courtyard.

Snacks Served: All guests are free to enjoy our complimentary beverage selection including coffee, tea, seasonal spa water, and wine! In addition, spa guests have access to almonds, dark chocolate, and dried cranberries.

Insider Tip: We encourage every Changes VIP (which is every client) to take advantage of all amenities available to their specific service. All spa guests are invited to come at least 30 minutes early to extend their spa visit by relaxing, steaming, showering, or just curling up with a magazine.

Unique Treatment: CBD Hot and Cold Stone Fusion Massage. It combines the benefits of CBD and varying temperatures to aid in reducing inflammation, relaxing muscles, and creating an overall sense of calm for the guest.

Splurge Treatment: HydraDerm is the ultimate results-oriented facial. This treatment removes clogged pores and toxins with vortex suction, and infuses the skin with peptides, antioxidants and Hyaluronic Acid. It also brightens and tightens with pomegranate Lactic Acid.

Insider’s Favorite: Our award-winning pedicures are performed in an anti-gravity chair overlooking our 16-foot water wall. Each guest is cocooned with a heated blanket, neck wrap, and eye pillow. The ultimate in relaxation ending with perfectly polished toes!
