Spa Profile: Glacial Waters Spa at Grand View Lodge

Glacial Waters Spa is a full-service spa and well-being destination located at Grand View Lodge.

A visit to the Glacial Waters Spa is a trip to the richest heritage of spas themselves. Spas were born when people traveled Europe to seek out the healing waters of mineral and hot springs. Glacial Waters Spa at Grand View Lodge draws upon that tradition, building their services around the mineral waters found in deep glacial lakes and Minnesota’s rich history of water.

They have a rich menu of services with a variety of targeted treatments to meet a variety of needs. While most of the services are for adults, they do offer a children’s manicure and pedicure for children ages 5 to 12 that includes nail art.

We caught up with Lisa Miles, Spa Director, who shared with us what makes Glacial Waters Spa at Grand View Lodge so special and unique.

Guests at Grand View Lodge can stay in different types of accommodation including villas, cabins and cottages on Roy Lake.

Splurge Treatment: Glacial Rain Hydrotherapy. This therapeutic treatment begins with a sea salt exfoliation and a full-body hydrotherapy massage with a pressurized Scots hose designed to relieve the deepest tensions. Relax under a seven-headed Vichy shower designed to open up the Chakra energy centers and cleanse stagnate energy from the body. An application of a personalized blend of hydrating lotion is applied, and we complete this experience with a Shirodhara treatment—a warm steady stream of a plant-based oil mixture flowing onto your third eye for ultimate relaxation. A scalp massage, shampoo and conditioning for your hair finishes up the session to leave you cleansed, energized and restored.

Unique Treatment: Halotherapy in our state-of-the-art Himalayan Salt room. During a salt therapy session, the guest breathes in tiny salt particles circulated throughout the air to help alleviate common lung and respiratory ailments. The dry salt naturally starts absorbing allergens, toxins and foreign substances into the lungs and throughout the respiratory tract. Dry salt may help to reduce inflammation and open airway passages. The micro-sized particles break loose and clear out all of the “bad stuff.” This is the basis for how dry salt therapy can impact people suffering from respiratory conditions like allergies, asthma, bronchitis, cystic fibrosis, COPD and others.

The spa also has a dry sauna.
