The spa reintroduced its signature Kuyam experience for individuals and small, private groups. The Kuyam, a Chumash Native American Indian word meaning "a place to rest together," is a unique detoxifying experience that combines therapeutic, self-applied desert clay with essential oils; intense dry heat; and inhalation therapy in a sauna-like environment.

Currently, cabana massages by Spa Ojai’s tranquility pool are available for those staying at the resort only. Hotel guests can reserve a spot for one of these one-hour customizable Swedish, deep tissue, and reflexology massages.

Guests will also enjoy the lush wooded landscape and serene Topa Topa Mountains with fresh outdoor pursuits at Ojai Valley Inn.  Unique Treatment: The Kuyam experience was created just for us and can only be experienced at Spa Ojai. In Chumash, the word "Kuyam" translates to "a place to rest together." A Kuyam takes place in a Moroccan-tiled room at a temperature of 130 degrees. Guests are instructed to self-apply three types of healing clay all over their bodies and relax into a 30-minute guided meditation (recorded by a Chumash elder specifically for this service). All the while, the lights are dim and lemongrass is steamed for a cleansing inhalation therapy. At the end of the meditation, guests rinse the clay off in a private shower and rest on a private patio to allow their core body temperature to cool. A communal Kuyam can be experienced with others or you may book the Kuyam privately.
