The Spa at the Lavender Inn is located in downtown Ojai, right beside the historic Lavender Inn Bed and Breakfast that was built in 1874. Whether you’re staying at the Lavender Inn or just visiting Ojai, The Spa at The Lavender Inn, run by Mary Nelson Skincare, is highly recommended by reviewers on Yelp and TripAdvisor for its results-oriented facials and massages. We spoke to Mary Nelson to find out more about the spa’s offerings:

Why You’ll Love It: I think our clients mostly appreciate the personalized results-oriented treatments. They feel that they are in the hands of experienced knowledgeable people. We have all been in this business for a very long time. They appreciate the relaxed nature of our business as well as our personalities.

Key Features: We are in a cozy little spot in the middle of a beautiful garden. We have two rooms, one for massage and one for facials. We do our treatments sequentially, but there are wonderful places for people to relax if waiting. Being within walking distance of everything, there’s no reason to be at a loss for something to do.

Bonus: The spa is conveniently located in downtown Ojai and is a walking distance from restaurants, shops, and art galleries.

Most Unique Treatments: We have two treatments that I believe are unique. One would be our Fascia Treatment—it’s the cutting-edge of body treatments in massage now and what massage has advanced to. I also have a new facial treatment called Corium Resurfacing. It involves epidermal leveling and nano application of an exfoliating product, followed by an application of nutrients with oxygen.

Featured Brands: I use several products that most people have probably never heard of. They all focus on providing the skin with the nutrients it needs to function at its best. Environ is a product developed by a South African doctor who found that his patients were not using Retin-A because of the side effects, so he pioneered the development of other forms of vitamin A that are more user-friendly, allowing people to use them more often and more effectively. He also developed the micro needling that is so popular both cosmetically and medically today. His commitment is to provide nutrients to nutritionally deprived skin.

I also use a product line called 302. The brand is focused on supporting the cells and systems of the skin and is currently involved in clinical trials for treatment of skin cancer. Another line I carry is called Prologic from New Zealand. I carry the Kiwi Seed Extract, which is an extraordinary source of omega 3 or essential fatty acids—crucial for skin health. I also carry their Hyaluronic Acid—an excellent tool for drawing moisture to the skin.
