We chatted with Jason Paluch, Director of Spa & Wellness at The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Boston who shared favorite treatments and amenities, insider tips, and more:

Why You’ll Love It: The entire guest journey is seamless and unique. Guests are transported to an oasis of tranquility the moment they enter the spa. From our welcome ritual to their complete journey through our heat and water facilities, guests are truly able to leave the fast pace of the city behind. Our highly skilled therapists are true masters of their craft and customize unique experiences for each guest. Our location provides a perfect urban escape within the city of Boston. We like to think of ourselves as a destination spa in an urban setting.

Key Features: Our spa offers the most extensive heat and water facilities in the state of Massachusetts. We invite our guests to arrive 45 minutes prior to their appointment time to fully prepare the body for treatment. These facilities consist of separate men’s and women’s vitality pools with hydrotherapy jets to invigorate and relax the muscles. Amethyst crystal steam rooms help to detoxify and cleanse the body, while experience showers incorporate light therapy. Finally, our relaxation lounges are a beautiful space to quiet the mind.

Snacks Served: We offer fresh fruits, fruit-infused waters, herbal teas, and a mixture of health-conscious snacks. We also offer a spa menu with healthy options which can be enjoyed in our Tea Lounge.

Bonus: We offer a welcome tea and signature oshibori towel as a way of welcoming guests into our spa. We also encourage digital disconnection throughout the guest’s spa journey by providing mindful activities in the relaxation lounges and common spaces. We also have a special phone sleeping case in our lockers to encourage guests to disconnect from their devices while they are with us.

Insider’s Tip: Plan your spa experience well in advance to ensure your desired treatment and therapist are available. We recommend booking at least one to two weeks in advance. We also encourage guests to utilize the spa on a traditionally quieter day such as Tuesday or Wednesday for a more exclusive experience.

Unique Treatment: Time Rituals are our most unique and signature treatments. Highly popular with our frequent guests, time is booked with one of our talented and skilled therapists, who will design a unique customized treatment tailored to the guests’ needs for that day. These treatments are offered in one hour and 50-minute and two hour and 50-minute sessions.

Splurge Treatment: For the body, our Oriental Harmony is the ultimate splurge treatment as it’s a beautifully synchronized four-handed body scrub and full-body massage performed by two therapists. For skin care, our Remodeling Facial treatment uses results-driven skin-care Biologique Recherche and is combined with state-of-the-art-technology to help recondition and restructure the skin.

Insider’s Favorite: Our Oriental Qi treatments blend traditional Chinese medicine with the power of aromatherapy for a results-driven massage that targets physical, mental, and emotional tension.
